I blame canola oil for the odd taste and a slightly queezy feeling after eating fried food - which is pretty much why I don't unless I make it myself and fry in sunflower oil. I could be wrong of course, but I have convinced myself anyway.

Olive oil for me... even though I rarely fry food.

Wishing you ten-fold that which you wish upon all others.

This is kind of funny... ever since I got here I've been meaning nto eat at In-N-Out... there's one right by my office. But the idea of fast food when the sun is out, or when I have work to do, or when I'm not at least drunk doesn't seem very appealing, even though it is a better version of fast food. Maybe I'll have it for lunch today... never know... PS to whoever said they wouldn't come out here in the summer, San Diego will be in the low 70s all week next week. :) Better than NYC in the summer for sure...

Yeah I couldn't hack a burger in the height of summer. Probably the worst thing to eat - fatty, stodgy food that weighs you down and makes you sweat.

I agree... but I am left to conclude that most San Diegans do not share that feeling, because there are approximately four thousand drive-thru restaurants in my area, all serving junk. It's like, if you're going to eat that, can't you at least get out of the car to retrieve your lard-encrusted sandwich?

The only other quick option in my area seems to be taco stands and a few Vietnamese and Chinese stands, a sort of drive-thru without the sit-down area concept. So far I haven't really been eating meals, just grazing on stuff I bought at the grocery store.

Bingo. I would estimate that we burn at least 1 million gallons of fuel per year nationwide at drive thrus. Even when I'm driving a car I get out and walk in if possible.

I haven't had it so I can't compare, but so far for me nothing beats Whataburger.

Olive oil is good for most things, but not chips, burning point too low.

THANK YOU!

I will be trying fish & chips soon... haven't tried in years.

:innocent:

What type of fish? Can't be cod, that's environmentally unfriendly. The irony of living by the sea in Cali, is that you can't actually get fresh fish! Well, unless you go fishing for it and I don't do fishing.

Refusing to use the spellchick!

I have put you on ignore. No really, I have, but you are still ruining my enjoyment of this site. .

chicken "rings"

Neil thinks anything foodwise with the word ring in it is something that should not be consumed

#6...

remember that spicy curry pot noodle commercial with the song "ring of fire" playing on it?

They weren't wrong.

I'm not a spicy curry pot noodle person (or any type of spicy curry or pot noodle anything), but Neil agrees with you

Life is a ticket to the greatest show on earth.

Pot noodles are not food! Interstingly, they were the snack of choice for some kids who used to hang around our riding school. Of course, being kids they often left the pots, complete with noodles more often than not, lying around. When I found them and threw them out, more often than not their was no sign of mould! Very worrying.

Pepperami is worse than the Pot Noodle - IMO.

Anything white and thick enough to beer-batter. I've even heard of people making it out of shark meat. Great for kebab, but we'll see about frying.
