Greetings everyone,

In case you didn't see in another post, my husband and step-son have their CR1/CR2 interviews on July 14th! I am so surprised. I will be able to attend! Zee mentioned that the clinics no longer send results to the embassy and that they have to be picked up. "Back in the day" they send the results to the Embassy.

So now I have another question about the logistics of these things. Since we are CR1/2's, they need need to get vaccines and have to go to Akai House for those. My husband will also have to go to Holy Trinity to get his chest x-ray and then of course Medlabs for his blood tests. All that being said, is it possible to go to Akai House JUST for the shots and then go to Holy Trinity for the physicals? I remember Holy Trinity being cheaper than Akai, and we are already on register with them, so I thought it might be easier to stick with them. Any thoughts either way? And do they only need their passports and their passport pictures for their medicals? I downloaded the info packet from the state department website and that is all it noted, but I wanted to know if additional paperwork was necessary. And I might find this answer by going through some previous threads, but what are the costs for Akai, Trinity and Medlabs these days?

Here is our account of the medicals: http://www.visajourney.com/forums/index.ph...=104119&hl=

We did the Akai House/Holy Trinity/Medlabs combination with no problems. It has the costs and everything in there :)

I just looked over the thread you connected me too--thanks! glad to know how bad they are going to hit our pockets. it seems that most of you didn't have to do the whole vaccination thing. But even at 169 cedis, its cheaper doing them here than in the US.

ARGH! I was planning on having someone express mail me the appointment letters, but I think I will have to have them faxed to me in order to take them to the clinics to have results ready for the July 14th interviews. if there is a two week turn around for picking up the medicals, i need that letter asap! Oh, they don't make it easy. I wouldn't be shocked if the actual appointment letter mailed to my husband here in Ghana doesnt arrive until AFTER the actual appointment date!

FYI, go to Akai House LAST. They refuse to do the vaccinations without doing the rest of it unless you tell them you've already done everything else at Trinity House. They charge much more and pretty much hold you hostage. They will give you attitude when you arrive only for the vaccinations, but then you've already done the others and they can't do anything about it. I've reported them to the embassy knowing full and well that nothing would be done, but I did what I felt was right because it's unethical practice and the embassy is technically supporting it.

Oh and definitely call Mr. Ray. He's sooooo awesome and incredibly helpful.

Are you in Ghana now? I'm leaving on Saturday for our interview next week. Maybe we'll do a VJ meet up, WeDestiny is there having wedding garments made working.

Hi Kanyiri! I've been in Ghana since the beginning of the year.

July 14th is indeed soon and we ran around yesterday and today getting all their medical stuff done. I'm now double checking that Akai gave them all their necessary shots because it was only 139 Ghana Cedils (1.39 cedis) and I was expecting we'd spend closer to 170. Any thoughts everyone--is the 169/170 including the whole series for HepB? Is that why we paid less today, since they only got the first dose?

I'm so jealous you are staying in Ghana! I looked into tickets and to fly everyone down there would be almost $5000! And then we have to have money while there, so it's a no go for us right now.
