Heylo All,

Sorry for the late post regarding the same.. Were busy at work and final icing on all the official stuff before we head out..

Our Post:

Outside The Embassy:

Well, my hubby had his interview on one stormy day of June, and we both had taken an initiative to reach the Embassy at 7-15 (for future followers, I recommend for you to arrive only 15min prior to your interview. If you have one at 9 come at 8.45...Their is no reason for you to leave early and stand in that line... They will not take you in only...)

We had taken a roll on bag with all of our wonderful memories, and were informed that we cannot take the bag. Hence a "gala" near by charged us 100INR to keep out. Once back in the line with our 4 wedding albums, 2 paper bags with documents, & 2 wedding DVDS. The security guy informed us that we cannot take the cloth bag in which we have stored our albums. Hence, another trip to the Pan Centre to deposit the bags. With 2 trips back and fro and now we were tired. The lady at the security asked for the letter, and mentioned that I cannot go in as I do not have an interview. I informed her that I had called up the embassy a day prior and they had mentioned that I can, since I am the one who is applying and I hold US passport. She said we would have to wait and she would check with the officer. A lady came and said that “not today” Only he can proceed to the gate. With that being said, I headed off to our house (approx 5 min away from Embassy ;-)).

My hubby had to make yet another trip to drop the DVD’s as they are not allowed inside the embassy.

My views: The entrance of US Citizen Spouse varies on the officer’s mood…

Do not take any communications, liquids, DVDs, Any bag which is made of cloth or has a zip. A small paper or Plastic bag is a best option.

The Interview:

A long wait was what my hubby was prepared for. Around 9 an Indian Officer looked at the papers, and confirmed all the information which was provided during this procedure. After all said and done, hubby was requested to take a seat and countdown for second round of Interview.

Another American Lady was the one who interview him and asked him following Questions

When Did you get married?

How long do you know your wife for?

How did you meet?

Where did you meet?

What does your mother in law do?

What does your father in law do?

What is your wife doing in India?

When do you intend to do in America, and when do you plan to travel?

The final statement, your papers seem okey but it seems that you have not made the final fees payment to the VFS embassy. Hence request you to pay the fees.

He got the 221g stating to pay the fees.

With no granted or sorry from officer, my confused hubby headed out and checked out with Information centre and the officer confirmed that his visa is approved, and in order to receive it he has to pay the fee and surrender his passport at the VFS office.

Hubby came home, and informed the whole story and we decided to make the payment at VFS in Mumbai only.

We were carrying the cash with us, but had to make a demand draft, so had to make a short trip to the bank and then to VFS. AS you all know the VFS for Immigrant takes more than an hour… Knowing this procedure will take him only few seconds at the counter, no one in front of him allowed to have him cut the line…. Hence he waited for about 75 minutes at and made the payments and submitted his passport for the needful procedure to be done. Yet again, hubby confirmed his visa granted status.

Were done with the above procedure by around 1pm.

My Views: We were informed Ahmedabad VFS while submitting the original that since we have already paid at the Delhi embassy no fees need to be paid. I called the embassy to confirm the same as it did not match with the sheet they had provided. She said that iin total you have to pay 385$ to embassy and if you have paid at Delhi than no worries, and if there is some fees pending the officer will inform of the same…

They should have informed that you have to pay twice and over all total amount.

WE have received the passport and the yellow sealed envelope… The passport has a stickers (just like UK visa) of validity of 6 months from issue date.

We are happy this procedure is over and done with…

Thank you all for your help & support, we really appreciate it!
