If you've been to another country for a minimum of 6 months, then you need to secure police clearance. If not, there is no need. All that is required is NBI clearance valid "for travel abroad."

Good luck

Just wanted to add one thing...

You're on CR1 so make sure you get NBI clerances for both maiden and married name if you've changed your name.

is that so? i updated my status and got NBI clearance using my husband's surname. In the NBI i got, my complete name was already written as "my name, my husband's surname y my maiden name de my mother's maiden name." does that mean i really need to get a new one for my maiden name even if the new one already stated my complete name? and the NBI people is aware that u just changed ur status?

thanks...

hi there! i shifted to k3 since the CR1 is taking so long! its still with NVC so my husband decided we do this route so i can go there and be with him quicker!

but in my NBI im using my husbands' last name i ahve changed my status on all of my stuff. do u think that would be a problem? i don't think i could still get a maiden NBI clearance...

No. Using or changing your new married name is not a problem. My wife started using my last name right away too.

As far as the NBI requirement, this is not really a case type thing. No matter what type of visa you're applying for, you'll need NBI clerances for all the names you've used.

I just mentioned CR1 because CR1 cases usually have at least two names. Their married and maiden names.

Here's a quote from the US embassy

Clearances should be in the applicant’s current name, birth certificate name, maiden name, married name, and any aliases or nicknames ever used, including different spellings of all names ever used.

http://manila.usembassy.gov/wwwh3217.html

And just out of curiousity.... Why cant you get an NBI clerance with your maiden name?

I'm confuse as to the naming convention they've used on your NBI certificate. But as a reference, here's how my wife had her NBI clearances.

(For example purposes, lets say that her old last name was "Ayala", her new last name is "Zobel", and her middle name, which is her mother's maiden name, is "Cojuangco")

Maiden name: AYALA, KRISTINE y COJUANGCO

Married name: AYALA de ZOBEL, KRISTINE y COJUANGCO

they put all of my names in one certificate my married name, maiden name first name and mother's maiden name so i think its gonna be ok all in one certificate
