I couldnt get the time off from work, so i just settled for the following week. I have started to make little x's on my calendar at work, to convince myself it is not much longer and im not going to go stir crazy :wacko:i have already packed my suitcase, How sad is that....LOL?

haha. I always hear about people doing this but I cant cause then what would I wear for these coming days? I'm on a "Get Fit for Jamaica" exercise plan though. Also a condition my blood for the mosquitos plan  haha!

Lita - how do you do this??

I start taking high doses of vitamin B1, like over 6500% of the daily value. I found out that b1 makes you give off a smell that humans cannot detect but mosquitos can and they dont like the smell. I tried it last time and it didnt get bit but the first day on the island, and I never had to use repellant which dries my skin really badly.

Honey you probably naturally have that repellant. I know some people never get bit. But me....oh no. I will be literally THE ONLY PERSON getting bit in the crowd. Its ridiculous and then the bites swell and turn like blood purple color and spread. Its the most gross looking thing ever. I look like i have a skin disease. When I stayed there last summer, my husband felt so bad for me he actually wanted me to go home cause he felt like i was getting tortured from the JA mosquitos. I had bites on my face even!!

I will be going to visit my SO July 4-9th..He stays in Lucea, which is not very far from Negril and Mobay...

Just to warn you, the mosquitos are terrible. Everytime I get bit up like crazy. He tells its because I'm so light.

Whatever. The bug sprays don't work. Its like candy to them. On my last visit in March, I got ate up but not as intense as the previous times.

hahahaha  Why did my husband say this same craziness to me!? I was like that dont even make sense. Then he was like yeah its true...i only see it on fair skin people and my aunt is albino and they get her almost as bad as you. I really didnt know how to take this comment but to :bonk:

The only spot I've stayed in Negril was The Coco La Palm. My first visit there last July was when I met my SO.

The Coco is really nice. We actually had one of the workers who liked one of my friends and he waited on us hand and foot. Bringing us bread fruit, mangos, you name it. On my second visit I booked my room for a week at The Coco, I got an immediate upgrade when I arrived because they weren't very busy and the same guy who waited on us before waited on me and my SO. He still liked my friend so much he had me go in the gift shop to pick out a gift to take home to her. My friends had called ahead to tell him I was coming and to look out for me. Aside from that, the housekeepers would decorate my room everyday. We would walk in to flowers and decorations and designs on the bed and dressers. It was really nice. Then Coco always has a Monday night celebration for its guests down at the bar. Food, music, free wine, rum punch...I booked the reservations right on their website. The rates are decent. I stay with my SO now whenever I go. SO no more Coco for me. But i would recommend it to others.

My dad stayed at Coco too. It was nice and the staff is really nice. I stayed at the Rayon right across the street and they have cute suites with platform bed, mini kitchen balcony and pitched wood cieling. It was nice. There's lots of great and cheap hotels in Negril. I dont stay in them now, just stay with the mister at his place.

 yeah, Marlita and honeychild.

I'm usually there during Sumfest but the flights sold out quick. So we're going August 1-9 for Independence Day.

We'll be there for our fifth (of meeting) anniversary. Thinking about staying in Negril a few nights. What romantic hotel do you recommend?

On the beach:

Kuyaba Penthouse suite http://www.kuyaba.com

On the cliffs:

Blue Cave Castle: http://www.bluecavecastle.com/

I have heard good things about all three of them. Out of the ones that I suggested, I just love Kuyaba - the food there is excellent, and the rooms are so so pretty. It's in a good location, too - easy walk to most nightlife.

Hmmmm....makes no sense to me either since I am white as the clouds! When I was there in '06 they feasted on my like an all you can eat buffet, but the last 2 times I went I didn't get a single bite. I stayed at the Holiday Inn in Mobay in November and I figured that they used some kind of destoyer something for the whole compound like they do at campgrounds here, but I didn't get bothered this last trip either and I said in the Kingston area. I take a daily multi-vitamin so maybe it has just enough Vitamin B to repel them.

Good to know though!

I just read an entire blog yesterday from a guy who stated at Catcha. It looked beautiful. He raved about that place.

When I went down in May, I did not get one single bite nor even seen or sensed a mosquitto around me and I am sort of light skinned. I even stayed in Portmore, the mosquitto capital of Ja, I was told. Maybe I have that "natural" repellant. lol

Thanks again. I like Kuyaba. But I noticed no TVs in the most rooms of the romantic resorts. Does that mean we have to talk to each other? Just kidding
