Being of Cherokee and Seminole descent (thank you Momma and Daddy!!) my skin is not as light as most, but I'm not real dark either and I have the long dark hair and high cheekbones characteristic of most Native Americans. I am also not the "ideal beauty" that most American men are fond of. I have some weight on me. That does not, however, detract from my personality and my intelligence. Fortunately my beloved husband fell in love with me despite not being thin or light skinned. IMHO that's the mark of a truly magnificent man...one who can look beyond a few physical attributes that don't fit the "norm" for America. I have actually known guys who would NOT even consider a girl as a mate unless she weighed a certain amount, had a certain eye colour, and a certain hair colour. One guy, a friend of my ex husband, had met a very nice girl but said she didn't fit all his criteria ^^^^^ and therefore he wouldn't date her...even though he really liked her and thought she would be a good choice if only she met the items on his "list". He's not married yet either...and that was at least 7 years ago. Wow.

The pain of my tanning experiences, I have done the lotions, even when I broke out in hives. All I want is to be dark, so much more beautiful than pale ugly white skin. When you have dark skin, to me everything looks better, shorts, dresses, your face looks awesome. Nothing is uglier than a really pale person like me, wearing shorts. To anyone who wants to be white I will never understand, because to me it is not attractive at all. As I have gotten older, I just gave up on the idea that I will ever be tan, but yep to me I will always find myself attracted to a dark skin man, or at least some damn color to his skin. Also I would love to have eyebrows, but that is another story. :crying:

I know men like that, I always wondered about that, what if something happened to that person looks. Let’s say you meet this amazing looking person, fall in love, and in that year they get in to some horrible accident, picking glass out of their face, would that love be gone? Looks are so fleeting, personality means so much more, if you can’t see past the looks than it is not really love to me.

I believe there is a skin color issue in Morocco as well. Maybe someone can expand, but from what I've been told, dark skin is viewed negatively. Although maybe it's an Arab/Berber issue, I'm not sure.

I don't think its a Arab/Berber split because there are berbers with light hair eyes and skin as well as dark eyes, hair and skin, but I dont knwo for sure either.

I know the skin color issue is expressed negatively in the use of language - esp when referring to some Moroccans in the south with more sub-Sahara african features.

Well I have big boobs, a big butt, and big lips and my hubby loves them so I'm happy. ;)

Everyone has their own personal preferences that's not the problem... the problem is when they overlook good people because they are not that ideal. My perfect man is 6'4", pitch black and is a shooting guard in the NBA .... needless to say my hubby looks nothing like that but he's sweet and that's all that matters to me. :)

MY HOT ARAB HUBBY!!

Mmmm, break me off a piece of that!

hahaha

Having spent alot of time around Algerians and Moroccans for the last 7 years I will tell you this. Many like a big butt and big boobs and big thighs, especially sexually. A girl that wouldnt get a second look because she is too "fat"in American culture ( I AM NOT TALKING OBESE JUST OVERWEIGHT) could be very sexually desirable to many North African men. It just depends on how they were raised and what was around them. Big boobs are a definite plus,, but a big butt ...oooh lalalalallala.

Some North Africans and Arabs dont like overweight women but frankly I have been watching Egyptian movies lately and I have seen some really heavy pretty women that are absolutely adored by Egyptian men. Laila Alwi is a fatty and many like her.

I think it really depends on the guy but I will say for sure that weight is alot more varied over there and a big girl more sexually desirable in many places in North Africa. I have a friend who is down right FAT and she cant keep Moroccan guys off her ( she has a very pretty face.. by the way) I also know Moroccan guys who cant stand fat girls.

The reality is that I personally think that culture is changing because of western ideals and tv and movies... But many men still like a butt and meat with their potatoes...

Algerian women do I agree have big butts, but big boobs? Not that I have seen! Many are so rail thin! I see only the married with several children women who have any meat on their bodies. The younger ones seem malnutured. And not once, did I hear an unmarried girl talking about dieting or going to the sauna to lose weight in order to get a husband

And somehow the curvier women (esp who are not totally covered) get the name "easy" many times. Have you the rumor or whatever you want to call it, that if women have irregular curves they are sexually active anally? Sorry if I am being offensive ... but I have heard this alot of women, when they see woman like this ... "pssssssssst look at her" kinda BS. I am sure this is not true but for sure it is not nice to say!

But overall, culturally I think in MENA being overweight is more exceptable then in the US!

I so understand what you are saying, of course I always like tall men, husband isn't tall, but who am I to complain, I barely make it at 5', and I stand by that height, won't say any shorter no matter what the tape measure says, so every man I meet are all taller than me. Personality can make or break the deal for me, you maybe a hottie, but if you are an ### all of sudden the looks are not so appealing.
