The other thing to note is that we shouldn’t assume that all theories carry equal weight. They don’t.

If people wised up to that we wouldn't have debates over the relative merits of Evolution vs. Creationism/Intelligent Design.

Peace to All creatures great and small............................................

But when we turn to the Hebrew literature, we do not find such jokes about the donkey. Rather the animal is known for its strength and its loyalty to its master (Genesis 49:14; Numbers 22:30).

I don't see it that much as a matter of weighing theories equally but more so properly adjudicating disciplines to what is "theorized." Science is science and pseudoscience is not.

Wishing you ten-fold that which you wish upon all others.

so eager to vilify Gore....cloaked envy

The right-wing is angry that Al Gore has won so much public attention and goodwill for his work on global warming. Determined to smear his efforts, Drudge writes in a screaming headline:

gore21.JPG Responding to Drudge's attack, Vice President Gore's office told ThinkProgress:

1) Gore's family has taken numerous steps to reduce the carbon footprint of their private residence, including signing up for 100 percent green power through Green Power Switch, installing solar panels, and using compact fluorescent bulbs and other energy saving technology.

2) Gore has had a consistent position of purchasing carbon offsets to offset the family's carbon footprint — a concept the right-wing fails to understand. Gore's office explains:

What Mr. Gore has asked is that every family
and try to reduce it as much as possible. Once they have done so, he then advocates that they purchase offsets, as the Gore's do, to bring their footprint down to zero.

It's the latest in a series of desperate attacks by Drudge to paint Gore as a hypocrite. Some other examples:

These are the lengths that climate skeptics must go to suppress action on global warming. There is no meaningful debate within the scientific community, so the right-wing busies itself with talk about how much electricity Al Gore's house uses — and even then they distort the truth.

Steven, Carbon credits are a scam. How many have you bought?

I've generate millions of carbon free megawatts of electricity... personally. I'm willing to sell some to you at a huge discount.... cuz I like you.

Al Gore may be championing some decent causes, but he himself does not practice what he preaches. When I lived about 10? miles away from his silly McMansion... TN was hit with some flooding/drought combo. TN declared it a disaster and FEMA was able to give aide to those who were zoned agricultural. Guess whose McMansion qualified as agricultural? He's growing a vast crop of lawn, I guess. It came out he had applied for FEMA aide and was also guilt of taking farming subsidies to NOT grow anything on his little lawn. Granted, many people were from that area and were doing the same thing-- but it doesn't make it right. That was part of why he did not carry his state in the election. This stuff had made local news but apparently never realy went national.

None of my posts have ever been helpful. Be forewarned.

Interesting. From what I know, this 'mansion' of his was actually part of his family's tobacco farm, so I'm not sure how much time he and wife spend there...perhaps he should sell it or turn it into a museum?

Interesting claims... hopefully there is proof to back it up. FOIA request perhaps?

He owns (or owned) a house in Brentwood which was part of a large-acre-age sub-division-- 5 or so acres per plot. Frist? or one of the Republicans also had a house in the same area and was doing the same thing-- apparently the behavior is not related to party-lines :)

Maybe? I wish I remember who aired the story. If I can remember, I'll come back and post it.

I'm driving at something else... like fraud. I think Bush's federal prosecutors would have jumped at the chance to take Gore out this way... they've done it to other Democrats just to do it... so this means its probably inflated media coverage fueled by "tips" to the TV station.
