You have to admit its rather funny how personal and desperate the conversations about this election are - because none of the candidates are really that exciting.

I'd have thought there'd be a bit more apathy - though I'm inclined to believe that this has something to do with the "Bush Effect"

Hey I'm very apathetic over here, because of our wonderful Electoral College system making my vote not count for anything, I might as well handwrite my vote on a piece of toilet paper and mail it in to them, that's all our votes are worth anyways! It's a waste of time is what it is, and I'm not even physically in the States right now thank God to be bombarded with all this #######. Once we have a coup d'état in Washington to change the voting process, then and only then will I go to the polls. All that money spent just to find out what the general opinion of the people is, that's all our vote is, an opinion because the electoral college is still gonna do whatever they please. France gives the vote to the real people, but I don't think we'll ever see that day. Who else is NOT gonna go out and vote this season? Don't waste your time.

Disclaimer: I DO vote in the smaller elections like for mayors and stuff, and for bills, because our vote does count for that. Just wanted to throw that out there.

He is not ashamed of his muslim roots (he is still wearing his middle name) he wrote an entire book about it, he is stating back and forth he is not a muslim . He made the choice of attending Church and marrying with a Christian woman. I think in me mind it does register as a Christian and who the hell care about my opinion any way : whoever he is , he is an absolute right to define himself and make his own choices.

By the way , why his religious background or even his current religion is so important in the Land of Free ?

American... wearing hijab..... would you require me to leave because of the way I looked as well even though I and my family served this country through every war, more than you and your family ? I also mentioned something about the untold muslimah votes out there that may not show up in the polls now cause of what he did blah blah blah...

My father is Catholic and my mum is Muslim, wearing the Hijab has nothing to do with the religion of Islam: accross " muslim countries" some woman wear it and other do not. Woman wearing it , is due to personal and cultural choice so let us leave part of the debate there.

Please note the hypocrisy of Gaddafi calling him his african and muslim brother when hundreds of black african refugees are dying in the hands of libyan frontier guards, I am not even going to mention how his own country folk treat black africans.

Obama is not black nor white, he is of mixed heritage so basically I guess his history/link to the USA on his mother part might go a long way.

Now assuming Obama is a religious bigot and anti muslim : what is the other choice ?

McCain who will just keep on the same policy of fear (you need a guy like me because out there everyone hates americans because we are the greatest and most beautifull people of the earth, blah , blah ), in a more concrete way you will find millions of prospective immigrants being put into a "thousand years " name check just because they are from a "muslim " country , carrying a muslim name , being coloured , being Latinos ,etc...

Personally given the choice between Obama and Hillary I would have voted for Hillary because she explains stuff the way I want to hear it : concrete plan of actions ... But between McCain and Obama there should not even be any contest at any sort of level.

Obama must distance himself from Muslims, if he hopes to have any chance of being elected.

The last thing he needs right now is another picture with a woman wearing a headscarf and a man called Abdelfadeel.

It silly really - the guy or his campaign can't do anything without someone trying to nail him.

There would, but it would have been different in nature - and much easier for the Barack campaign to dismiss as cynical manoevering.

For my part, I would much prefer Barack to be fending off 'Obama supports muslims' criticisms, than trying to defend the 'I want to change the way politics is done, but only after I have been elected President' type criticisms. It's dishonest, and I don't care for it.

In My honest opinion , during the current climate muslims are a political liability (before I get some crusaders on me head:my father is catholic and mum muslim).It could be down to a lot of different factors : "war on terror ", media demonization , sept 11 or simply non action from Muslim to uproot the murderers walking in their midst ,etc...

I do not know why .But I can feel the pain because in majority muslims have the same needs and aspirations as any local Joe/john/julie unfortunately their voices have been muted by some bearded psychopaths.
