It denotes racism to me (and incidentally many others) regardless of how its spun by those who disagree.

I guess if your looking for it you will find it.

Gov. Charlie Crist has dropped his long-standing support for the federal government's moratorium on offshore oil drilling.

...

The governor said he reversed his position because of rising fuel prices and states' rights.

...

"I mean, let's face it, the price of gas has gone through the roof, and Florida families are suffering," Crist said Tuesday. "And my heart bleeds for them."

...

Last year, Crist had urged federal lawmakers to reject legislation, which they did, that would have allowed drilling as close as 45 miles off Florida's beaches. He also supported the moratorium during his 2006 campaign for governor.

Most Florida politicians have opposed drilling because they fear it would harm beaches vital to the state's tourism economy and interfere with weapons testing and training in and over the Gulf of Mexico by Florida military bases.

Okay, get a grip you stupid politicians!!!!!!! :bonk:

Do you know how many communities and schools in Florida which have been absolutely devastated by unexploded bombs in their neighbourhoods? Do you know how many more unexploded bombs there are in this whole State due to their testing?! Interfere with weapons testing. Jesus.

bombs over big rigs. gotta wonder about them in florida.

the big rigs can also be used as navigational beacons by the drug/ illegal immigrant smugglers ...

and maybe if the military uses the right type of bombs ... it could make drilling easier ... :bonk:

Oh, excellent point, and good segway for bringing drugs and illegals into the conversation, Natty.

Is there anything we have missed?

Oh wait! Racism! There must be some way to introduce racism. post-21394-1213805123.gif

:innocent:

Oh wait ... I know there is another fuse to light somewhere ... the racism card has now been played ... give me a few minutes to review the most recent locked threads ...

Yep. It really does.

You can count my husband and I in that one too. It's one of those subtle digs where people who know better claim to pretend there's nothing racist about it.

And are you serious, LaL? There's one flying over eastern Tampa Bay? I'll have to take a look.

I thought the confederate flag waving over eastern Tampa took care of that one.

Yes, Im totally serious. It's 30ft x 50ft. Its huge. An interesting tidbit from the article:

The 1,500-square-foot flag was ordered from a Chinese company after an American flagmaker begged off, citing union objections to making the flag.

that's what it has turned into, and certainly not what it originally meant. this very conversation has taken place on vj several times, and i quite frankly am tired of educating people about it.

That by the way does not denote racism to many others regardless of how it is spun by those who disagree with the Confederate flag. Besides everyone knows the Civil War was not fought over slavery anyway, it was only a side issue that Lincoln threw in at the last minute when he was desperate and getting his ####### kicked by the South. The Civil War was fought over power and control and money, slavery had nothing to do with it. But like so many that try to spin it and so many blacks have tried for years. Funny how blacks own kind captured them and sold them willingly into slavery in Africa, yes that is correct blacks own kind did this to them, no one else.

Those must be some interesting history books you're referencing. They're completely different to the established historical record

Slavery was the main issue behind the secession - largely due to its importance to the South's economy.

Slavery + States Rights -> Secession -> War

Wishing you ten-fold that which you wish upon all others.

What would you know about history in the USA, maybe they did not teach you correctly in your British prep school? You need to get your history facts more in order.
