I was touched last Tuesday/Wednesday.

Seems to the pattern on some of them, they get touched 2 days in a row and then nothing again until approval.

I'm hoping for September too.

By the way, I just checked and two of my touches came on Saturday and Monday

I wish all of us SURPRISINGLY SPEEDY approvals! :star:

Vicky,

don't worry. It seems like a regular pattern at VSC: you get double touch and then nothing until approval. I have done some research  and it seems to me that majority of the approvals comes in 8-9 weeks after "double-touch".

Anyway, let's be patient :innocent:

Hey everybody! It looks like USCIS finally "moved the chains". K-1 processing date has moved forward one month to Jan 17. :wow:

Hey guys, we technically belong here since our NOA 1 date is June 30th

One thing we are kinda frustrated about is trying to plan a date for the wedding. Since the whole process could take as little as 5 or as long as 8 months, how can you plan? Does anyone else have this problem? I mean of course we could wait til like the interview to start planning but its hard to plan a wedding in a short amout of time especially with making reservations, etc. And isn't it true that the visa is only good for 4 months from when the USCIS approves it? We want to get married ASAP but we don't want to set a date and then the visa not be ready by then. :(

We know exactly how you feel!!! There are a few options that people have done, which you could also do:

1. Wait until the visa is in hand/person is in the US then get married at your local courthouse.

2. Wait until the visa is in hand/person is in the US then get married at your local courthouse. Then start planning your religious ceremony - this would allow you to have it whenever you want, because you are legally married within the 3 month time limit like you need to be.

3. Set a tentative wedding date, and tentative plans only - hope for being able to keep them, but change them if necessary.

4. Set a permanent wedding date, and just hope for the best.

Okay - obviously 4 is NOT a good idea!!! You will most likely lose a lot of money this way, and it just isn't realistic. A lot of people do 1 & 2, these are good options. Some people do 3 - it all depends on you guys.

My fiance and I are doing 3. We have set a tentative wedding date (March 27th, 2009). We ideally want a winter wedding and the end of March is still possibly winter where I'm from. We talked to the officiant and church where we want to get married and have explained the situation to them. They have agreed to mark us down for that date, and will allow us to change it at any given time without penalty of losing a deposit. I know the officiant personally and the church is small, so they don't have many weddings. This helped them be willing to be flexible with us. They told us if we have to change it, we can change it to any date except Holy Week. :) In addition, our wedding is on a Friday and if we change it to another Friday, that'll make it easy to choose another date because not many weddings are on Fridays.

Our plan for the wedding day, is as follows - wedding at 11 am, dessert reception at the church and professional photos, restuarant dinner reception in late afternoon/early evening. We will leave by 8-9 o'clock, and will then have a few hours before we crash down exhausted to enjoy our own company on our wedding day. As stated, the church is taken care of without the worry of losing a deposit if the visa takes longer. The photos will be taken by family most likely, so that will be easy to schedule. Our guest list is 33 people long, so when we KNOW the wedding will take place like we think it will, we will find a restuarnt and call and either reserve a room or simply reserve seating for that many. Most restuarants can handle that, as long as they get a month warning or so. The dessert reception will include our wedding cake and some German desserts. My fiance is making the German desserts, and the cake will be made by a proffessional - who we will find when it gets closer. If all else fails we'll have it made at a grocery store bakery - they can make great, cheap, wedding cakes.

So, basically everything EXCEPT the church will be booked at a later date. This way we have a tentative plan, a place to get married, but no worry about losing any money. :)

We want to get married in Winter, so we chose a date when we could POSSIBLY have the visa and that could POSSIBLY still be winter. If you wanted to get married later however, then you could set a date for say, next June or July. I would say that you would be very likely to have the visa by then. Say, you get the visa in January 2009, your fiance will have 6 months to leave their country and come to the US. So say they travel in June 2009, then you'd have 3 months to marry. IF you had set your tentative date for July 12th, and once he had the visa did the rest of your planning, then you could still have a nice wedding within the time limits.

Of course, the problem with that method is that after the getting the visa you have to wait even longer to finally be together! I know we want to be together ASAP after he gets the visa - we're sick of this long distance stuff!

Sorry this got to be so long, just wanted to tell you how we're doing it. Obviously do what's right for the two of you, everybody is different. Hope I helped.

Well, we are going to get married quickly, so we are going to Vegas. Spend 4-5 nights there. Get all documents, ( you can get Marriage lisence and Marriage certificate and Married in 1 day) Then we will take a well deserved break for a year! Then the Next year, have a nice wedding with friends and family if she wants.

Depending where you live in the U.S., you can get cheap flights + Hotel rooms cheap if you buy together.

Whereever you planon getting married, check the requirements for that State. I checked for my Home State and I would need alot of paperwork and it would take a while to get marriage lisence and certificate. I checked for Vegas, and all we need is I.D. so We don't need to pack all our visa papers and records and what not. Good Luck!

We used the estimated date of our approval and added 60 days. We must be married in 90 days that gives us some room on either side. Of course if the process speeds up or slows dramatically we would make changes as needed. We are comfortable with our mid January date (in Disney). Good luck

I did some research this morning and found that the CSC processing time is Jan. 17th now as well :) and I finally found our estimated approval date (nov 6 - 28th sometime)! Between the processing time on the USCIS website, my estimated date, and the current rate now (it seems people in February and March are being processed right now) - it seems like 5 months to NOA2 is pretty likely.

Of course, that could always change, 5 months is a long time, but it seems like good news to me right now! :)

Just thought I'd share!
