Well if you have the last 4 numbers, and are quite anxious about getting it ;) , you can always figure it out. Here's how it breaks down...

Example - WAC 08 143 5 1234

WAC - California Service Center (formerly Western Adjudication Center)

08 - The fiscal year of USCIS, from October 1 to September 30. (Cases filed from 10/01/2006 to 09/30/2007 will have xx = 07)

143 - The working day of the fiscal year when your case is received. 10/01 = 001

5 or 0 - Either 5 (in database) or 0 (paper files) ... K1's are put into database

1234 - A serial number assigned to your case based on the number of cases received, starting from 0001

KimandRuss,

That's the greatest explanation for every newbie!!!

03/17/11 - AOS/AP/EAD package sent

03/29/11 - Checks cashed by US Dept of Homeland Security

04/15/11- Bio Appointment (success!)

04/16/11- RFE Mailed to NVC

04/19/11- Touch (RFE answer received by NVC) (SMS & E-mail)

05/18/11- EAD card production ordered

05/18/11- AP postdecision activity - letter mailed (SMS & e-mail)

We filed at the CSC on June 24th, they got our application June 26th and cashed our cheque on July 1'st (today)

although my fiancee saw #'s on the back of the cheque the # he gave me started with E but was only 9 characters long not 13 so guess we will have to wait for the NOA1 to be able to check our status online

There supposed to be 10 numbers after 3 letters. Good luck!

Yes I know it is supposed to be 13 characters in total ... the combo he gave me was like this (changing #'s for privacy)

E5693 1299

So that is obvi not the right one so when he gets home i'll have him take another look at the back of the cheque lol

Thanks to you guys I created an account on USCIS to check on my case status. Sadly, my case hasn't been touched since the receipt date of June 17th, 2008. I must say it's exciting though to know that they have our case on file! We've been waiting years for this step, so it's super nice to know that we're finally working on the last of our long distance portion of the relationship!!!

Keep up the smiles and patience!

Hi June Filers!

I mailed the I-129F petition package to VSC on June 6, 2008 and received NOA1 on June 11. Since then our case has been "touched" twice. Hope it's a good sign!

Good luck to all of us! :D

Oh my God!!!!! your case was touched twice already!!!!!! I think that´s a very good sign!!!! I hope mine was also touched at least once :crying:

Vicky

Vicky,

Thanks for keeping my hopes high!

We all wait for these "touches" as a sign that our cases are not just sitting in some boxes. However, from what I've been reading on this site, these touches may not mean anything.

We got our NOA1 on June 16th. Thanks for creating this thread!!! It is exciting to see others in basically the same place in the process.

I have a dumb question. How do you tell when you case has been "touched" by USCIS? When I check online, it says the last update was June 16, the date of the NOA. Does this mean no touches?? :help:

Also, I am looking at the statistics, and it's obvious that VSC is experiencing slow-down at this time. :( But I am trying to stay positive :)

Vicky, Have you checked the status of your case online? Maybe your case was touched

I check my case almost everyday and my boyfriend told me already to relax LOL..

I know that touches dont mean anything but at least they are signs that they are "touching" the case LOL......I know, the VSC is getting slow with the processes.....but let's be positive and very patient..

Vicky

I check progress of our case every day too  I filed petition for my boyfriend and cannot wait until petition is approved! I know it's a long wait, but I want the process to be over already.

By the way, one of the "touches" on our case happened on June 21 (which was Saturday). Someone told me here that VSC is working weekends too, so I am checking the USCIS' website on weekends also.

And of course I am trying to stay positive!

You register with the USCIS and login you will see the following page.

When the date changes you have been 'touched'. It doesn't necessarily mean anything but it still feels good. :)

OOPS! Found it. I should have read the entire post.

Thanks Kim and Russ (again).

FIRSTLY HAPPY 4TH JULY TO EVERYONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We sent our petition to VSC last Friday, they received it Monday and the cheque has already been cashed, now we are waiting for ou NOA1 to arrive in the post

I was advised by Bex a member of VJ, that in america you can view the cashed cheque online and it has the number on the back of it so you can sign on for the e-mail updates on the USCIS site before you actually get the NOA1 in the post - thanks Bex

Let the journey begin and lets hope it is a short one for all of us June filers
