Its the bureaucracy - I mean... how can you have a pre-existing condition if the purpose of the procedure is to find out if you have a problem...?

STFU Michael Moore!!

 Moore gets slammed unfairly by a lot of people - his only beef has been against the Bush presidency (he wasn't on anyone's radar before GWB was elected). Prior to that he wasn't really all that political - his concern was really USC's being ripped off by corporate america.

Well that is too bad, they should take care of you and honor their contract and not hassle you. :innocent:

I have enough money to pay for it if something horrible happens. I'll chance it for now :P

So I was bimbilin along in my early 20s when I got in my accident. Guy had 10k of insurance...so half my med treatment got paid by my own health insurance. 1 year later and $1 million in debt...it can happen to ANYONE Amber

Unless you have a few spare mil around? But if that's so, and you can afford premiums, then it's really shortsighted not to.

Yup - in my case $20K for an exploratory lymph node biopsy. The insurer even tried to pre-existing condition me for it.... for a diagnostic procedure...

Moore is a total idiot and a hypocrite himself. He is only in it for the money he makes off his movies. He could care less about anyone or anything other than his fat #######!

That would be your opinion. I can't honestly see how you could justify that statement factually - other than that you just don't like him.

Ahh... and they don't need to be regulated b/c the current system works 'just fine' with some changes to improve efficiency... riiiight.

It works fine if you don't mind getting a mountain of invoices and strongarm letters from healthcare providers because they don't want to wait for your insurance to finish their "review" and pay up.

I tell you, maybe those that like the system the way it is can offer up interest-free loans while their friends in the insurance companies decide what life-saving and life-critical procedures are on a skew towards higher profit margins. Heck, that's more middlemen...

Wishing you ten-fold that which you wish upon all others.

Geez, Amber, I'm going to join the finger-wagging here. Are you nuts? (I mean that w/ affection.) I can understand that you don't want to fork over wads of cash every month if you're healthy, but if you can afford medical bills, at least get a catastrophic plan w/ a low premium and high deductible. God forbid something should happen, you'd be absolutely staggered by how much even a few days in the hospital costs.

BTW, isn't your mom a doctor?

Rumor has it that Michael Moore doesn't actually hate GW. I heard he was just starving and running out of money for food in 2004. The money he made from the 911 movie fed him for 5 days.

Click here to activate your "Guaranteed Healthcare Card" and show your support

for Single-Payer Healthcare for ALL and STOP insurance companies from deciding

who lives or dies based on profit!

17-year-old Nataline Sarkisyan died last December from liver failure because her

insurance company refused to pay for a transplant her doctors said she needed to

survive.

What happens when I activate my "Guaranteed Healthcare Card?"

  • You will be able to download a PDF of the card for your wallet.
  • A candle will be lit to honor Nataline and countless others who die by insurance company greed.
  • Your comment, photo, and candle will appear on our U.S. map by zip code.
  • Your name will be added to our online petition and sent to the presidential candidates.
  • You will receive updates from Guaranteed Healthcare about how to stay involved.

$14,000 for 1 1/2 days stay in hospital for unexplained symptoms thought to be a stroke but turned out to be nerve damage from a herniated disk . . . continuing treatment afterwards - I don't have the total. Fortunately, insurance covered the Lion's share. I hate to think where we would be without insurance. 'Stuff" happens without any warning. It is better to be prepared than to be sorry.

I like the idea of protesting for universal health insurance on June 19th - that is also our wedding anniversary:-).

“...Isn't it splendid to think of all the things there are to find out about? It just makes me feel glad to be alive--it's such an interesting world. It wouldn't be half so interesting if we knew all about everything, would it? There'd be no scope for imagination then, would there?”
