this is total bullcrap

global warming is a hoax

yeah, 1,000+ climate scientists worldwide are part of the vast conspiracy!

Well there are something like 9K PhDs that claim the opposite among "31K" "scientists" that signed a "petition" that it was all a fake... I say the evidence presently in existence talks enough for itself.

Wishing you ten-fold that which you wish upon all others.

yeah, I saw that petition too. I did a search on a handful of the names and came up with a much less impressive story. A random sample showed that two appeared to be fake, two were Phds. in completely unrelated fields and one seem to be most famous for having signed the thing (that's the only thing his name googled for ...)

Yeah that petition has been wheeled out quite a few times - they had to edit out some joke entries like "Gerry Halliwell", and there was a follow up piece in Scentific American that stated that out of a small sample of 32 names - only 9 categorically claimed that they supported the premise of the petition.

On the OP topic - It probably isn't all that hard to track the movement of populations from different areas, as well as the development of flooding, desertification & drought in those originating areas.

ditto. However, since Mickey Mouse has a PhD that must also make him credible.

International Union of Geological Sciences (IUGS) stated, “The idea that there is a strong human imprint on recent climate change is now compelling, with forest clearing, building and man-made gas emissions all having a strong influence on Earth’s warming.”

In July 2005, the European Geosciences Union (EGU) issued a position statement in support of the joint science academies’ statement on global response to climate change. Additionally, the EGU concurred that the IPCC “represents the state-of-the-art of climate science supported by the major science academies around the world and by the vast majority of science researchers and investigators as documented by the peer-reviewed scientific literature.”

"The Geological Society of America (GSA) supports the scientific conclusions that Earth’s climate is changing; the climate changes are due in part to human activities; and the probable consequences of the climate changes will be significant and blind to geopolitical boundaries. Furthermore, the potential implications of global climate change and the time scale over which such changes will likely occur require active, effective, long-term planning."

The American Geophysical Union (AGU) statementadopted by the society in 2003 and revised in 2007 affirms that rising levels of greenhouse gases have caused and will continue to cause the global surface temperature to be warmer: "The Earth's climate is now clearly out of balance and is warming."

US National Academy of Science: "In the judgment of most climate scientists, Earth’s warming in recent decades has been caused primarily by human activities that have increased the amount of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere. ... On climate change, [the National Academies’ reports] have assessed consensus findings on the science..."

All alarmists with a third-world anti-progress agenda!! :devil::lol:

The ironic part is that the "study" that gets pulled out of the Oregon institute where the "petition" came out of is a rip-off of the PNAS paper format of the US National Academy of Sciences.

Actually, that Oregon Institute is pretty bogus. One look at their Web site gives you an idea: http://www.oism.org/

the guy who runs it, Arthur B. Robinson, is described by SourceWatch as "an eccentric scientist who has a long history of controversial entanglements with figures on the fringe of accepted research."

If I remember rightly the guy also promoted Creationism in another petition.

While there are arguments abound about scientists being politically biased on that issue - supporting something as blantantly political as "Intelligent Design" doesn't really support the argument that his objection is about the quality of the science.

They do have Kamen, though... C-14 dating is nothing trivial. Merrifield has a Nobel for awesome chemistry work. But yeah... Robinson... proof that perhaps someday even respectable scientists can go nutty.

Yeah... to each his own though...
