Thank You for the update Ryan. I will never forget my lunch date with her and Jackie the day I left for Jordan. I remember walking into an arabian restaurant in a mini skirt , and dawn said to make sure I left that skirt at home! hehe! She called me the day I landed in Jordan to make sure I was safe. Her heart was truly gold and I will never forget her <3

It has been 3 years since the death of our friend and family member of VJ, Dawn. Does anyone have an update on what happened to the man who killed her in that automobile crash?

I didn't know her but from reading these posts she must've been an amazing person. My thoughts and prayers are with her family at this most difficult time.

My heart is breaking from grief as I type this. Our Dawn (dawnhatem) was killed this morning in a car accident.

There is a story on the Chicago Tribune's website. I have no words to say right now I can only cry and wish she was still here. Kelly and Sofyan will tell us when the wake and funeral are. If anyone would like to help me send a bouquet of flowers, let me know and we can sign it from her VJ family.

I don't think Hatem will ever see this thread of condolences, but I just want him and his family to know that we care.

She was Lisa. She went through alot in the years before she died...She did her very best and I cannot believe that she died in the way that she did..

She really enjoyed the trips to Jordan and the adventures along the way.

The pain of losing Dawn is as fresh today as it was then. The man was sentenced to 9 years in prison. If you want to see the face of her killer, go to www.idoc.state.il.us and his name is Robert Pas.

I spoke at her funeral and shared with everyone how much she meant to so many people on VisaJourney. I printed out pages of condolences and presented them to her mother as a tribute in her memory. As a group here, her VisaJourney family sent a beautiful floral arrangement. Not a day goes by that I don't think of her and wish we could just go to IHOP again for coffee and pancakes.
