I'm all for lillies too BUT I prefer a plant that the family can keep that will grow for a long long time. I forget the name of the one my dad got from his mamas funeral but I'm fairly sure my mother called it "elephant ears". It had really beautiful big leaves that were different colors .. green and yellow combos. It grew for around 20 years until one of our cats used it as a chew toy while we were gone for a week on vacation.

That is just my suggestion.

That's a good suggestion Amal. Lilies can be added into the living plant as well if you ladies want to have flowers in it. At the end of the service, you remove the lilies and lay them over her coffin.

VJ Hours - I am available M-F from 10am - 5pm PST. I will occasionaly put in some OT for a fairly good poo slinging thread or a donut.

If anyone is coming to the wake and funeral on Saturday, let me know and maybe we can meet up about 2:30.

We now have 8 donations and $255. Hopefully there will be a charity listed soon for the remainder of the money to go to. I am overwhelmed at the support this group has been to each other. I am truly blessed to have such good people like yourselves to call my friends.

Sorry to hear about this horrible accident.

We must live everyday to the fullest and love dearly, every minute those close to us, for we never know when God will call us home.

Dawn

May you rest peacefully in God's gentle care.

Hatem, I hope you find the comfort in the life you shared with Dawn and knowing that her memory will live on thru the goodness she showed the people she touched.

It is probably an alocasia, as most people don't keep colocasias inside.

None of my posts have ever been helpful. Be forewarned.

I know. I keep checking the Chicago Suntimes and the Chicago Tribune. I don't think Darien has its own papers. They are very nice at the funeral home every time I call with questions.

We are sending the Quiet Tribute standing spray by FTD if you would like to see the arrangement.

As of this morning we have $160 over the flowers to give to Hatem. I thought long and hard about this decision. What would Dawn have wanted. And she would have wanted us to help him. I am sure of it.

I had thought maybe the driver of the other car was ill or just not paying attention. No. He was drunk. At 11am, he was drunk. This makes me sick. Nothing will bring back my friend. If he gets prison time, doesn't matter. If he walks, no fair. Either way Dawn is gone.

Just a waste of a beautiful young life. I bet you this was not his first DUI, most likely he has had serveral, they usually do until they kill someone. :crying:

I didn't know this woman but from the way you all describe her she is a jewel and a gift to this world and to the lives of those she touched. The impression she left on all of you says it all.

Jackie, your depiction of her support for you during your own struggles speaks volumes. I'm so sorry for the loss of your dear friend.

I wish you all peace and comfort during this difficult time.

Jax,

The flowers are beautiful and I agree 100% anything left should go to Hatem.

I cannot imagine what he must be feeling.

I wish you hadn't posted the driver was drunk - that makes me furious. I wish I lived closer.

Thanks again everyone for the kind contributions. It's amazing to see so many moved.

Jackie, the flowers are beautiful, nice choice. I completely agree any extra money collected should go to Hatem for assistance in however he needs it.
