I did not know Dawn personally but had read many of her posts and always noticed how sweet and nice she was....and how she always tried to stay in contact and up to date with what everyone was doing....so caring of a person she was.

This is surely a huge, unimaginable loss and another reminder that every day is a blessing. And just thinking of the time Dawn and Hatem had to be apart due to immigration concerns in the recent past...that part really breaks my heart too.....so sad. On the bright side, if we try to think of one in this tragedy, she did find love, marriage and happiness recently...and that was a blessing.

My thoughts are with you, Dawn...as you now know what the "other side" of the light encompasses....I pray that the beauty is unfolding before you and you are truly peaceful.

-Debbie

Do you know her favorite flower? Favorite color? Or maybe even a plant for her mom or someone else in her family to bring home.

I am just reading this now. :(

I used to talk to Dawn alot thru IM's. She was suck a sweet young lady.

We used to talk about all different things when she was waiting for her then fiancee to get here. We would talk about things even after he arrived. She was such a blessing to her family and her husband.

To all her friends on the MENA board. May you find peace and confort during this difficult time.

To her family and husband. May GOD hold you tight.

Sweet dreams Dawn. You will be so missed by everyone.

For Dawn, from me

I knew I would say good bye

But I loved as hard as I could

I danced in puddles, in the rain and walked through storms

I loved against the laws of boundries, of distance

I stood on mountains and kissed the man I love

And as I say goodbye to all of you here that loved me back

I tell you please do not cry for me

Remember all the funny things I said and my spirt and my heart and how I loved and lived as hard as I could

Remember how I found love just in time and made a love story when maybe other people would have given up

Love the man I left behind and hold him close and show him the beauty of who I was, An American woman that loved him

And hold him in your arms and help him survive these difficult times because I know it won't be easy for him

But know I loved you all and I want the best for you

My sisters and my family here and there and everywhere

And here's to taking chances... I took them and I loved and lived

And I hope you love as hard as you can and you live a life worth remembering

And the flowers you send me, please hold them in your heart because they just don't matter if you are not happy...

Live a life as a fountain and give to all around you and continue flowing and moving and let all find comfort in your presence

Please do not miss me too much, remember that I love you and I want you to be happy

And remember me each time you do something you always wanted to do

Because I loved you

Love, Dawn

Tragic... :(

Consider making donations in her name, or a fund even, particularly for - things that keep on giving. Like educational materials to a local Islamic center, school, needy kids or such.

A good deed in her name that keeps on giving - is a very good thing.

The moral of my story: Stick with someone who matches your own culture.

( This coming from an Arab who married an Arab from overseas... go figure. )

I've always thought that yellow roses were unbelievably beautiful...but maybe red, as they symbolize love, which is how your knowledge and friendship came to pass on VJ...it was her love for a foreigner that brought her here to VJ, and love is also the defining thread that has basically brought almost all of us together here.

Peace and Grace, Staashi (F)

Jackie-- you said beautiful and fragrant? Did you want ti to last a while as well? if so, I would choose lilies. They will open from closed bloom even when cut (unusual) which is a good trait. They are also very fragrant. For my annivcersary Ammar got me a boquet with lilies, roses and stocks. I was also surprised at the stocks lasting as long as they did. You could also choose something like her birth flower if you know her birth month... or her favorite flower or favorite color... Lilies and carnations last just about the longest in arrangements, and lilies are probably my favorite of the two. Also extremely expensive in the cut floral world but very long lasting (but no scent) are orchids. Personally, I'd choose the lilies.

None of my posts have ever been helpful. Be forewarned.

I'm all for lillies too BUT I prefer a plant that the family can keep that will grow for a long long time. I forget the name of the one my dad got from his mamas funeral but I'm fairly sure my mother called it "elephant ears". It had really beautiful big leaves that were different colors .. green and yellow combos. It grew for around 20 years until one of our cats used it as a chew toy while we were gone for a week on vacation.

That is just my suggestion.
