Has anyone found a job without having a SSN?

Hi everyone,

Currently my Fiance is trying to apply for a social security number and at the same time she is searching for a job because it is difficult for her to sit at home all day with nothing to really do while I work.

Has anyone here had success in finding a job without the SSN or is it most likely going to turn out that she will need that?

Typically you do not need to provide a SSN until you fill out the I-9 (after employment offer has been made).

Employers don't ask for SSN before they interview and make job offer. Only after they hire a person will they need it for the paperwork required for taxes.

No, BCD fiancee has only been here two weeks and is still "in process" for a SSN

Should have the SSN soon. Can visit SSA apply, one day, and in many cases return the next day, and get a printout from SSA with SSN, employer will in many cases accept this, and request seeing the card as soon as the prospective employee has it.

I got a temp EAD at JFK. After four days, I went to SSA and received a piece of paper saying I could work while I waited for my SS card to come through. i got a job the next week. The SS letter was enough. It took four weeks to get my SS card through.
