Importance of sponsor attending consular interview?

As much as I'd love to go back to Bangkok for my fiancee's interview, with airfares what they are, I could save a lot of money if I just arranged for her to go by herself and fly out by herself (she's done a bit of international travel, so that shouldn't be a problem).

My question is: how important is it for the sponsor to be present at the interview? I know it's not required, but does it really help?

Normally the USC need not attend but every consulate is different so it's important you check with others who have filed through Thailand.

Generally - if its a 'clean' case - no prior applications/marriages/children/criminal stuff - it should go smoothly (as long as all your paperwork is OK especially the sponsorship). The worst will be that they ask the USC petitioner to attend (to prove the relationship). Good Luck
