Hi everyone! We sent our I-751 package Monday, 6/9/08 to the California service center. They cashed the cash on Friday, 6/13/08. We received the NOA Monday, 6/16/08. I was surprised it was pretty fast!

The NOA states my name and A# so I probably won't have any trouble extending my driver's license and etc. for another year while our petition is under process but my childrens names aren't on it. I have a 17 yr. old daughter (will turn 18 next month) that needs to renew her driver's license also and I'm not sure how she can. Anyone know or have had the same experience with their children?

I have heard of others here with children getting separate NOA extension receipts for their children's derivative status. I don't believe they have arrived at the same time. I am sure you will hear from one of them about what to expect.

“...Isn't it splendid to think of all the things there are to find out about? It just makes me feel glad to be alive--it's such an interesting world. It wouldn't be half so interesting if we knew all about everything, would it? There'd be no scope for imagination then, would there?”

I called the service center and was able to talk to someone. They said that I should make an infopass appointment and bring 3 passport photos of my daughter and all the paperwork including the NOA. Has anyone had any experience like this?

It sounds like they are prepared to give extension documents with the I-551 stamp. Those are the instructions given for individuals who do not have a valid passport to receive an I-551 stamp. If your children do have passports bring them along as well . Your 17 year old should definitely go with you to the appointment.

My daughter does have a passport but it expired last year and we failed to renew it. How do they give the I-551 stamp when individuals don't have valid passports? Also should I get a stamp for my other daughter who is 9yrs old.? Would she need one? Thanks for your replies!

There are instructions for getting the stamp for those who do not have a valid passport - I will see if I can locate them for you and post them here. If someone else finds them first, they are welcome to post them too (VBG). I would get the stamp for the other children as well - I don't know if there are issues at school requiring proof of residency or not but if so, you would be prepared.

Thanks but I just received two extension letters for both my daughters! The wierd thing is that it's just on plain paper stating that

"This is to verify that you are included as a dependent in the request for removal of conditions . . . etc. This verification extends the validity of your alien registration receipt card . . . etc."

Then it's not even signed or anything. I would think that they would print it on a paper with a letterehad or something. I wonder if this will be acceptable for the DMV.
