I recieved a letter from NVC, in this letter there is a KEV case number. In the letter it says my case will be sent to the US Embassy in Kiev in a week. I have a question:

Can I at this time call the Us embassy in Kiev(their call center) and request a date for the interview? since I have a case number, or does my finacee has to wait for the embassy to mail her the information packet?

I found the info packet link for download here: http://kiev.usembassy.gov/files/packet3.exe

But its all in English, is there a link for the ukrainian translation?

Nope, they won't schedule your interview untill the package is received in Kiev and, most important, inputed into their system. So some more patience is required. Oh, the joys of this process :crying:

As to the package, I suggest downloading it now and getting all the docs ready while the case makes it to Kiev. That is if your fiance hasn't done that yet ;).

On the left side of this page you can download the packet in Ukraininan.

Good luck!

Ok, thank you very much

She must submit to the embassy on the day of her interview the english versions of these documents, correct?

Or she can complete the ukrainian version but she must translate all the documents, correct?

Regards and thank you

You are very welcome!

I believe the DS forms are to be completed in English (at least I did so for all 4 J1 visa I've got in the past :)). The packet will give her a full list of support documents to bring, as well as indicated which copies to make and what should be translated. Like birth certificate and police certificate both have to have certified translations. This can be done in any Ukr. city or town. Now, if she hasn't applied for the police certificate, she should do it ASAP since it can take some time to get that - our beautiful burecracy :). I'm still couple months away from the embassy and already started getting my papers together. Well, as my fiance says, I'm always ahead of the schedule :).

No, you can not call to setup the interview yet, but you also do not have to wait until she receives the package in the mail. First, read my post here. It takes the Embassy about a week from when they receive the petition to enter it into their system A few days after the package has been delivered, start calling them daily to see if it is in the system. The direct phone number to the consulate for K-1 visas is +380444904422 (call between 8:30 - 4:30 Kiev time and give them the KEV case #). Once they confirm you are on the system, she can call and schedule her interview. You can also call beforehand and purchase the required PIN code with your credit card ($12 for 8 minutes).

Good luck.
