I was told 6 to 12 months and 12 to 18 months, Montreal sat on our paper work and sent it in April so it is actually 16 months left to the 18th month. By looking at 14 or 16 months down the road getting it earlier would be a bonus.

I don't mean to pry, but did something happen? If you arent comfortable answering, I understand, but wow.. that is kinda scary. My hubby and I will be having our interview in Montreal also.

I hope it all works out for you two! I hope it is much quicker than 14 months!

You have nothing to worry about except getting yourself to your interview. My problem started to my thinking was not because of the crime committed but because the person collecting the information noted in my file she could smell alcohol on my breath and thought I was drinking before the meeting, which I hadn't.

American or Canadian Thanksgiving? :hehe:

Seriously, though. I'm sorry everyone has to be apart from their loved ones for so long. That's sad. :(

I just like complaining, it is nothing big there are others here that are worse off. Sharon now has a passport and can come here. We are also exercising our options by applying for her immigration to canada and take the one that comes in first or if possible take both.

I don't know who is worse off, those who have been apart a long time or the ones that have just left there sweethearts

8 MONTHS!

Ouch! I m so sorry to hear that. It will be 20 weeks exactly if we get him here when we are planning. I am hoping we will get him back on the 17th of August, but because I am a high risk pregnancy, I might see if we can get him here one week earlier. I am not quite sure. Then after the baby is born and he goes home, I am not sure how long it will be before we can see eachother. *sigh* I think I have said that before though. I am hoping that the post that someone gave that there were quite a few less people who applied each month after March... if that is true, they should speed up with the processing, I hope.

Longest we ever pulled off was 2 years apart.

Proposed in May 2005. Researched the best way to get here. Came down in August to file paperwork together and visit. October we filed the I-129F. From there, we figured for the longest time that "the immigration would be done soon." And why waste a visit when I'd be here soon enough. From then on, it was long waits for that, she has nobody to cover her job at work. And has time sensitive stuff that needs to be done. I was saving up as much money as I could by working overtime. A half a dozen flights to deal with medicals and consulates. Car expenses. It all added up quick.

When I got the K-1 approved (Dec '06), I couldn't go right away. Couldn't make it through the snow in my car. And I needed to save up money through the spring anyways. Ended up taking the engine out of the car for repair that spring too. 6 weeks that took.

I got turned around at the border in May and had to file for another K-1. Of course by that time, I needed a new medical exam and new background checks. So that was another couple of plane tickets for the second medical and the consulate deal. Separate travels of course. Once that was sorted out, it was July or so.

August 2007, I finally made it here.

It's been 83 days :(

By the time I see him it will be exactly 4 months, that's the longest we have ever gone... :(

But on the bright side, the wonderful, fabulous, amazing side...when I see him next....touch him next...kiss him....I'll be going home with him and I'll never have to be away from him for that long ever again.

:luv:

That's the boat I'm in Laura. I last saw him on March 4th and I'll pick him up in Vancouver on July 16th. That's 4 1/2 months? That is the longest apart. We've managed to see each other every 3-4 months the last 2 and a half years. We've been, I think, extremely blessed because we've had schedules that allow long vacations (I teach and he works for a university while getting his MS) and we've had lots of savings (now seriously depleted) and airline miles.

The time apart was tough. There were a few times that I honestly didn't know how we were going to make it. But the realization has been slowly sinking in that THIS IS IT. No more goodbyes after this.

I had a bridal shower today and my feeling was "wait....this is really happening!"

Best of luck at your interview, Laura. And to everyone else still waiting....big hugs and blessings.

Your complaints are well founded and while everyone's case is equally serious, I am hard-pressed to recall a case as odious as yours. What happened to you at the interview still boils my blood, unfettered discretion applied in a capricious, arbitrary and unfair manner has a way of doing that to me. I still wonder if that female CO comprehended the gravity of what she did, was it willful ignorance or malicious intent on her part. I aver that it is a distinction without a difference. I am so glad to hear that Sharon has her passport and I only hope that she is strong enough to travel, how is she holding up? Every day separated from a loved one is torture so the longer it goes on, the worse it is and the greater the strain on the relationship. Everybody who is apart from their sweetheart could do much worse than follow your example of the expression of timeless affection. We all take solace from the fact that you and Sharon are getting closer together. (L)
