Hi, my name is Danny.

I am from Scotland and am currently going through the motions of becoming a permanent resident (through marriage).

I have received my EAD and today I applied for a SSN and I know that it should take 7-10 business days for me to get it.

Today I received my "REQUEST FOR APPLICANT TO APPEAR FOR INITIAL INTERVIEW" notice and I had a couple of questions which I'm hoping some of you guys can help me with:

1)What kinds of questions do they ask at the interview?

2)How long do the interviews usually last?

3)It is the 'initial' interview...how many more interviews are there?

4)What kind of things did you take with you to "substantiate your relationship"?

I am very greatful for any help I receive,

Danny

See the link below for details of my interview.

Every interview is different so search the forums for other people's experiences too.

To be well prepared I would suggest that:

1) You take along photos (and copies) of: your wedding, family photos showing you together with your in-laws etc.

2) Make sure you take the very latest copy - ie: 2007 of your spouse's tax return.

3) Take a selection of utility bills, bank statements, insurance documents, tenancy/lease agreements, medical insurance etc etc in joint names or individual names showing that you both reside at the same address.

4) Take the original birth certificates (plus copies) for you and your spouse.

5) Take a certified copy of your marriage certificate

6) Take your passport and I94

7) Take your new EAD card (and AP if applicable) documents that you received

8) Take copies of all the correspondence you have received from USCIS since you began the whole K1 process

9) Take a copy of your DS3025 Vaccination history (issued to you at your K1 medical) if you have it. If not, you'll need to have I693a. If your interview is more than a year since your K1 medical you will probably need to have a new full medical for I693a. Go to the USCIS website and find your nearest Civil Surgeon if you need to get the full medical and vaccination history completed.

This is the link for finding your nearest Civil Surgeon: https://egov.uscis.gov/crisgwi/go?action=of...office_type=CIV

In terms of the questions, they can ask you and your wife pretty much anything.

The interview duration, questions asked etc will depend upon the officer and your own case circumstances.

Hope this helps!
