I-864 & Tax Extension

Folks -

I got an extension for my taxes for 2007. How do I handle this for I-864 purposes?

I have a second question: Do I submit a separate I-864 for my step daughter (K-2)?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

The prudent procedure is to file the taxes and include a copy of the full return, all schedules and supporting documentation. Yes you file a separate affidavit for each intending immigrant.

Surely you knew at the time you filed the extension that you'd also be sponsoring an immigrant this year. Time to act accordingly.

This happened with us as well. My husband had filed for an extension, and we received a RFE on this - we had to submit the INS form 4868 (the form you or your accountant filed with the INS).

Thanks so much for the info and assurance! I assume the 4868 is the form for an extension. I am providing my extension form, my W-2 for 2007, my 1099s for 2007, my 1040 for 2006, and my pay stubs for the last 6 months. Hopefully, that will satisfy the beast. Thanks again, and congratulations!
