After a long wait I was approved for green card as CR1 and received Welcome letter from USCIS. The letter said my card will expire in 2 years and I have to apply for removal of conditions 90 days prior to that (and blah blah...)

Now, I received my card yesterday and guess what... it is valid for 10 years. USCIS sure did a mistake (I would be more than glad if they didn’t in this case).

Should I apply for a new card? Or just apply after 2 years for removal of condition? My marriage is almost but not 2 years yet. Is there any risk if I travel with this card now and apply in 2 years for removal of conditions?

Also, will there be any issue removing condition because of the Green card expiration date?

Please help if anyone has any information. Good luck to all waiting for their case.

How long were you married BEFORE they approved the green-card?

If you were married for 2 years before they approve the green-card, then they will issue the IR ten year card.

The marriage is little over 1.5 years old at the time of approval. The Welcome letter stated that I am a conditional resident which seems legible according the duration of marriage (less than 2 years).

Should I go for an InfoPass appt? I am afraid of them taking my card and wait for years for a replacement card and lots of hassle.

Info pass appointment is a good thing to do, and confirm your status, it should be conditional.

Replacement cards don't take years to get, they may take it, but they should stamp your passport with I-551 stamp so that the passport will serve you as a green-card until you get a corrected card.

I have arranged travel plan and my native country will give me a lot of trouble to board a US bound aircraft if I don't have PR card in hand.

Will it be possible to go to USCIS after I come back? I should not have any problem at the Port of Entry within 2 years of my residency, right? All the Immigration Officer can do is advice me that my GC expiration date is wrong, not deny my entry. Am I thinking correctly?

OP, you don't have to get your green card replaced. However, it is recommended that you do file the I-751 90 days before the 2nd anniversary of the green card.

Enjoy your trip!
