Photos: home print or kodak/walgreens?

i know in the K1 guide it suggests going to a place such as kodakgallery/walgreens/cvs to have the evidence of meeting photos printed, but is that necessary?

what has been everyone's experience?

i don't mean to go against the guide, but i have a nice photo printer at home that produces really great photos (albeit with 'canon' stamped on the back instead of kodak/etc) - plus it's so EASY to just do it from home. and i have all the primary evidence (tickets, boarding passes, passport stamps, atm withdrawals in mongolia, statements and proof of payment on everything, etc)...

i understand there is the idea that i could have doctored all the photos, but is the 'credibility' of having them printed at a drug store really necessary?

again, not trying to go against the guide, but wondering what everyone else did for this - and if you self-printed were there any issues?

many thanks,

michael

They just want 2x2 photos. It can be from your home, go for it.

...(you should have seen the photos I received from my fiancee! I told her the dimensions and she sent me something like 2 x 1.3! It looked tall and skinny and really funny. I didn't get an RFE)

Don't worry about. You'll be fine. Photos are only secondary evidence as far as proof of having met is concerned. I only sent one photo with my I-129F. I hired a lawyer long before I ever heard of Visajourney.com. I gave him two photos of me and my fiancee and he gave me one back saying only one was necessary. A few days later he sent it back to me thinking it may have sentimental value. He just ran a copy off the office copier and sent the original back to me. I had no problems. However, I think Walgreens or CVS are great for passport photos. They're inexpensive and will be the correct size. My finacee had trouble getting passport photos the correct size in China. She wound up taking a high resolution digital photo of herself in front of a white wall and sent it to me via email. Walgreens was able to take the digital image and scale it perfectly to fit their template for passport photos.

The question isn't about 2X2 passport photos. It's about photos together to be used for secondary evidence of meeting. It doesn't matter how they're printed.

thanks everyone for the responses - that's what i thought, home printing is going to be okay, but just wanted that reassurance!

However, I think Walgreens or CVS are great for passport photos. They're inexpensive and will be the correct size. My finacee had trouble getting passport photos the correct size in China. swa2 - this is a great idea. my fiancee has just sent me a second set of passport photos - the first were incorrect size, resolution, etc. if this new set also doesn't cut it, this idea is brilliant - just have her do a hi-rez shot, and have walgreens do the rest. amazing...

MANY thanks!

Hey,

for my package I just taped my photos to a blank 8 1/2 x 11 page (4 or 6 to a page) then I color copied / scanned them. and I sent that in I had no problems what so ever. Even at the interview, they took the color copy pages, they didnt even look at the baggie of original photos which I brought.

if you have digital photos you could just arrange them in Word or something and print them off in color.

I just took colored printouts of our photos together from my comp and wrote when and where the photo was taken and that worked fine. Did 2 photos per sheet and sent 6 photos with the I-129f.. worked fine

Yes, what you did was fine for either the petition or the interview but the only pictures actually required with the petition are the passport pictures.

True.. Its not a requirement to send any pics except passport pics while sending the petition. Doesn't harm though. Just make sure not to send any pics that they might mistake for your wedding pics. Seen a few cases lately
