We met online, married on the first trip within two weeks of meeting IRL, had no engagement part, no wedding, I'm 21 years older than him, visited for a couple of weeks each in 2005, 2006, and 2008 just before his interview. We sent only what they asked for, they looked at no evidence at the interview, asked him fewer than 12 questions in about 10 minutes, and gave him his visa the next day.

In other words, the system is inconsistant and unpredictable. What works for one couple may be the kiss of death for another. My advice is to take it easy, be sincere, stay confident, and be well organized. They seem to respond well to those much of the time.

Always the best on your journey.

Yes. This is what i was tlaking about when I said case presentation, interview demenor, etc. Ammar was asked 2 questions, one being a fluff question about his name or something of the sort, and the other being "why did your wife get divorced," which he didn't answer, apparantly. he said he told them "she got divorced for her own reasons, which are none of your business." As scary as that sounds (and I wouldn't recommend that response!) they gave him a visa and told him he was approved that day... visa came in 2 weeks. Everyone is different and every case is different.

Go see him in Madrid if he gets to go! It's cheaper, anyway :) And it can be so much fun!

None of my posts have ever been helpful. Be forewarned.

Insha'allah... we'll find out next week if it's approved... But to be honest with your situation I think your husband was right... it isn't any of their business. I told my husband the reasons and he surely did not like having to talk about it with me. Part of the "protective thing" I think. so he knows my side he knows my ex's name birthdate everthing.... would rather never talk about it again but I worry just one thing not answered cause we didn't think about it might make a difference.... than again we only filed a month ago. UUugghhhh seems like so much longer already. sigh

Good luck Rajaa! We didn't have an engagement party either and we were fine. My husband was only asked for his documents and no personal questions about either one of us at the interview which is rare but we already had a run in with the embassy 9 months earlier so that is probably the reason why. We went through the consulate in Egypt so we wouldn't be much help to you. I just wanted to say good luck!
