INTERVIEW A SUCCESS--GREENCARD CAME IN THE MAIL!!!!

Hi everyone,

Just to follow up! 4 months (to the day) after we filed for an adjustment of status for my Italian wife, we had a very fast interview. The following day my wife went into the hospital to be induced to give birth. The people at the NY USCIS office were friendly and efficient and considerate; they did not make us wait more than 5 minutes past our appointment time. (This may have had to do with my wife's very pregnant state!)

The questions they asked were about our relationship and marriage--if we had been married before seems to have been a big question. We were nervous, but felt confident. I was nervous that my wife had not entered the US on a fiancee visa, but it turned out ok. That was not even an issue the interviewer raised. We were married around the 60th day she was in the country. Her pregnancy seems to have been a convincing factor, also.

Lastly, they asked for original photographs to submit with the application--so I would advise everyone who is going for their interview to be sure to have copies of everything to leave with them! Also, the woman who interviewed us kept studying our eyes and watched us very closely, which was a bit unfamiliar to me, but she was polite and kind of hinted that my wife should get her Green Card in 30 days, which she did.

Good luck eveyone and thanks VisaJourney for all the help. We lurked a lot and read a lot here. We did it--with help from you all!!!!

best
