Hey everyone. I decided to try and sleep in late this morning and no luck. I tried not to think about this waiting game. I decided to call my significant other. He is way more patient than I am and always says don't worry we will get the approval soon. I decided to take a quick road trip after checking USCIS website this morning and found nothing has changed. I didn't even wait for the mail to come.

But then.........................................I just got home @ 11:00 pm and checked my mail. Whooooooooooooooohooooooooooo!

WE GOT OUR APPROVAL! NO touches online. Website still reflects a last touch of 07/10/08. I keep trying to call that lazy boy but he won't wake up. I kept him on the phone so late whoops.

I'm off to update my timeline! Thank VJ for this wonderful site. I was beginning to think I screwed up the paperwork!

YAY! Congratulations mbbs! Your timeline is exactly like mine so I am really excited! Mike--thanks for the info about phoning! I am going to try it ASAP tomorrow. I am so hopeful now!!!!!

What was interesting is that I finally caved on Friday and actually phoned to follow up............and got nothing from them. The rep told me their computers were down and she could not verify anything and yet it was approved on Nov 10.

CIS has a way of knowing you are just about at the point of giving up, and then they come through hehe

Maybe they track how many times you've hit the site to check status, and then when you finally hit 15,000, you get your approval.

I know I checked status at least that many times

Good luck with the rest of it!!

I found this in an old post about 1 year old. I'm not sure if everything is current, but I thought it would be a great reference.

We know the times listed are exaggerated, but maybe the process is still current? Anyone have an idea?

Mike those times and listings are for different visa types and for filing Adjustment of status after you and your fiance get marrried. For k1 visas the NVC just assigns a case number and sends the case on to the embassy usually in just a few days after they recieve the file.

APPROVED!!!!!!!!!!!!

Wow, I can finally write this message I have been longing to write for so long!!!! I took Mike and Gracey's advice and called USCIS. The first worker refused to "escalate my call" saying there was no supervisor available, and that she had all the info to help me. She actually got an attitude about it--I hung up on her I was so frustrated! Called back and the next worker was so nice-- I calmly explained my situation and asked to speak to a supervisor just to be sure about my case. She agreed to escalate my call and the nice supervisor told me what I wanted to here:

APPROVED November 12th!!!!!!

YAY!!!!!!! Thank you everyone for all of your support and advice--I really would have gone crazy without you! Now I hope that the second stage will go more smoothly....but I'm not holding my breath! Just SO GLAD to have some inkling that this will all be over soon. :star:

I really hope you get that hard copy in the next couple of days. Use that escalation method Mike posted about to talk to a supervisor if it does not come by Friday. Hopefully they will see that their systems problems are not justification for charging you for another copy and making you wait for it.

And you need NOA2 letter, not another NVC letter!!! LoL I got 3 of those NVC letters myself.

Probably your packet 3 will come in a week or so, depending on how quickly they can put it together and get it to you.

Hang in there & Good luck!

Maybe some mad smileys will help the letter come

well I just got off the phone with the USCIS....after attempting once last week and twice today....I finally got someone who would transfer me to the next level of support. The officer told me that our case was still pending (duh) and that these could take up to 9 months so now all we do is wait....easy for him to say...ahhhhhhhhhh. Okay sorry. I guess I feel a little better after talking to someone who knows what they are talking about and being reassured that there is nothing wrong with our case. Just praying we hear some answers sooon! (And they go back and get those beginning of June files)

Congrats to everyone who has gotten great news and moving along to the next stage! :)
