Does anyone have photographs of the lay out or how you set up your packet? With my illness I get overwhelmed with tons of details and I wish to do this correctly. I am a visual learner so any examples anyone can show me would be a huge help of how you set your packet up. I know we aren't to use staples. If you have tips on the exact name of office supplies you use to set yours up that would be also helpful. Thank you!

I think you are overthinking this. Take a deep breath. ;)

The uscis doesn't really care how you package it. They do recommend on their website not to use staples, to use ACCO fastners and if you tab off the sections to have the tabs at the bottom instead of the side. Some have simply used those large clips to hold sections of paper together. Once it's there, they will package it in a universal container and place it with the others. Do send it with signature authorization and use a personal check (with your correct home adress) if you want your EAC number off the back asap.

Make sure the data in your I-129f is correct.

Be sure you have all 4 copies of your G325 filled out and signed.

Attach your passport photos to them.

Your signed original letters of intent.

Declaration of how you met

Your proof of having met in the last two years. (copies of passport stamps...boarding passes... etc)

Cover letter

Copy of Birth Certificate

Copy of Divorce Decree

Copy of Marriage Certificate if needed (to show proof of legal name change)

If there are any court/police records and/or IMBRA info

..oh and most importantly...the check for $455 ! ;)

Go over the K1 guide here as well as the uscis instructions for the I129f just to ease your mind.

It was 61 pages and probably overkill but we have known each other for a decade and we have travelled all over the world. I wanted to show proof of that.

As someone who processes paperwork for a living, I can tell you that your papers really need not be 'professionally organized'. You know, with color coded tabs, photoshopped indexes etc. They know exactly what to look for and are used to rummaging through all sorts of piles that are sent to them, organized and otherwise, to find what they need.

So just 'regular organized' will do. As long as it is neat and orderly, it will be fine.

I didn't use tabs, or indexes at all. I simply grouped relevant papers together, and used a ziploc bag for our photos. My main focus was getting the petition mailed off, not making it pretty. ;)

(And in case you are wondering, our RFE was the fault of the county that issued my birth certificate, not me. LOL)

Two things - the petition is generally pretty thin (mine was only 18 pages), so you can just use your cover letter to describe the contents and then put the contents in the same order behind the cover letter and use a paper clip. No need to go fancy or send them tons of paper work. Good Luck

Wow Kim!

Alan sent off our application so I imagine it was upside down, back to front and had coffee stains on the cover letter. Don't stress out about it too much, like the other posters have said think like you are looking at all the documents for the first time and just be logical. The first person who opens your application is going to arrange it in a way they want/understand any way. I arranged the supporting docs chronologically so that they could get an idea of our time line but I think that was about as organized as we got. We didn't even send it in a folder or tagged just put it all an envelope and shipped it off. It didn't seem to hinder our progress in anyway as you can see from our dates.

Good luck with your journey.

Assemble your packet in order with ACCO Fasteners which can be found in your local Office Depot.

No need to buy a box of ACCO fasteners you'll use only one of or to buy or borrow a two-hole punch. Anything that will hold the papers together will be fine. I used an ACCO Binder Clip but I have ready access to those in my home office anyway.

I like these clips and for a little over a buck, you can't beat it. They seem to hold really well, also.

Don't just open your mouth and prove yourself a fool....put it in writing.

It gets harder the more you know. Because the more you find out, the uglier everything seems.

My ACCO fasteners are a generic. The box says:

OfficeMax prong fasteners

2 inch bases with compressors

2 3/4 in. hote-to-hole

The paper punch says:

OfficeMax 2-hole standard punch

padded handle

punch 50 sheets

You don't have to punch it. The big clip will work nicely too. Hopefully you can borrow something from work. I don't think the fasteners matter that much. The poster above Bex and I had very similiar timelines--filed March, Vermont, fiance England. I used prong fasteners and a few tabs, but no binder. They didn't clip it at all. Our approval times were comparable, hers being a little later than mine only because they filed a little later.

Here's a thread where I replied to someone asking about organization. I described some of mine. Sorry no visuals

Hi! I am totally a visual person as well. I can read directions 5 times and still not "get it".... so I understand your stress. I cried a few times while compiling things feeling overwhelmed.

I followed the guides on here to the T! I read and re-read alot, I made a list and followed it.

I also have an Aunt that is much better at paperwork type stuff so I had her read the list to me while a double checked.

I did nothing fancy! I made a cover letter, listed what was in the package and then put all in the order I listed them on the cover letter.

Then I used maybe 4 paperclips (about 62cents for a box of a million at the corner store!) for the whole thing.....

Put it in an envelope (legal size so I didnt fold anything) and mailed it off.

If you take a look at my timeline you can see things went pretty smoothly. My Fiancee arrives TONIGHT!

...when it comes time for the interview at the Embassy I got a plain black binder and did the same as above, put it in and brought to my fiance. We went over details a few times so he would have the confidence of knowing what was going on. It's tough as the SO (well at least in my case) becuase I did all the paperwork and it was the 1st time he saw all that I did!!!

Good luck to you!!

:-)
