Hi everyone,

Here is the senario:

He got a temporary visa to come to the states to visit in the summer. If we get married, just have a short ceremony at the clerk office, get the marriage license, and then he'll go back to his country and we'll start the visa process untill he is approved to be here permanently and then we'll have our wedding, will this work or will USCIS have problems with that? Are there any ristrictions on his visitor visa that prevents him from getting married while he is over here? I could not find anything online.

No problem as long as he goes back home. Your profile says that you submitted a K1. If you marry this summer, you can't do the K1 anymore. You will have to get a spousal visa. I don't know what timelines are like in Iran, but my guess is that he will be here quicker if you continue with the K1 you started.

Just don't mention the marriage during the "what is the purpose of your trip" portion of the chat w/the officer at immigration. He's coming to vist family and friends.

However, if they press and ask directly, he should not lie. Have him bring a letter from his job indicating when he's due back and other ties to his home country, just in case.
