I was logging in like i do every day and it dawned on me...."what's the point?"

So i want to ask everyone, why do you bother coming to vj everyday? I don't mean this in a mean spirited way, i am only curious. I know there are loads of info here, but once your paperwork is filed what is to gain? We can't find any more info about our case then we can at uscis.gov.

is it the emotional support? the willingness to answer others questions?

Is it seeing other people's approvals? if so, does that excite you or depress you? or both i suspect.

i just wondered what everyone's compulsion is because i don't know about mine.

I still come because even though I've filed, I'm just at the beginning. I like to read other people's experiences, even the bad, just so if the bad comes for me, I think I'd have a better idea of what to do. I also of course read about things I will probably have to do later in the journey. Also like to see some approvals cuz its nice to see people make it thru. As far as if I was all done...I'm not sure if I would still venture here. I see why some still come, because they've made friendships and probably use it as a way to communicate, but I don't have friends from this site yet lol.

It's an addiction. I tried and managed to stay away on Monday, but had a relapse on Tuesday  and waisted the rest of my work week here. I come to see approvals from VSC, and while 'waiting' for those get involved in all kinds of more or less pointless discussions. This never ending wait can turn into an obsession, actually it is becoming just that...I'm trying to remember how I managed to stay away for days or weeks at a time in the past....but I'm not able to remember

This sucks more than anything else has ever sucked before.

I come for several reasons. (1) I remember when we started out and I didn't know anything about the immigration process. Everyone here was supportive and quick to respond to my questions, so I like to return the favor now that I have something to contribute. (2) Even though we filled a K1, I have learned quite a bit about the other visas. And I have been able to help other friends and acquaintances. (3) I'm also interested in how the process has changed, since the new fees, procedures. Particularly since our journey isn't complete yet; we still have to remove conditions and apply for citizenship (4) And last but not least, I've made a lot of friends here, and its nice to have a single place to come and connect with everyone.

haha, a lot of things have happened to me.. they transferred my apps to the local office last November (2007).. and then I had a local office interview too.. brought my parents and everything (lucky I did) and the examiner said that everything looks fine because you brought your parents - they wanted to make sure it was a valid marriage... ####, like they don't have other things to do instead of wasting time and analyzing people.. Also, I have a government job and am a US Citizen.. so go figure.. what other ####### do i need to verify myself?.. For the I-130, I sent in as evidence my wedding invitation, 20+ pictures of both sets of parents, and sisters, uncles, aunts on her side.. and 3 affadivits of people who know both of us with their contact information (address and telephone and other stuff).. well, anyway, I was like "what the hell is going on??" , so I called them and ask where my case was.. they said they will transfer back to the local office again... I went there to ask in December 2007, so I got frustrated..

I have been sending letters to various people (congressmen, senators, governors, attorney generals, vice president, president, presidential hopefuls too).. anyone working the government.. well, I received a letter from President Bush stating they forwarded my letter (5+ pages with story from beginning and what's been happening to my case and current case status online saying it's way past time) to the FBI.. I received a letter from the FBI (Records management Division Chief) saying I had no security checks on my case (letter somewhere in january 2008).. USCIS had originally told me that I had security checks back in November.. so I went to the local office interview they set up for me in February 2008.. and the guy said i was to receive the approval notice within 2-3 weeks.. and nothing yet.. now it is like this:

http://www.visajourney.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=133058

so many problems for me.. :crying: :crying:

so May 2008 , I hired a lawyer and going through the lawsuit now (writ of mandamus).. the lawyers have to send a "demand letter" and wait 30 days for a response.. the time just ended beginning of this week and they said they weren't expecting a response from USCIS anyway.. so now the 60-90 days wait will begin for the official complaint (taking it to court before a judge)..

I think, once you are about to start this immigration process, most of us are in loss and you are here to learn, the more you read, the more you observe how others case are shaping up, the more you can outline your own case.

And sure there is a wonderful support group here, the world outside this community doesn't really know the pain and the whole process, they think that just because you are married to an American citizen, you can hop on a plane and land to US whenever you wished for, you can't really make them understand about this process, but here its different.

You learn something new every day and basically when everything revolves around this immigration for most of the part of your day today life, at least for the coming 1 year, may be more, may be less, its better to be updated about the process itself.

I have formed a lot of friendships on VJ and like to see how everyone is doing. I have also learned a lot more about the other visa options.

I try to help people whenever I can with their questions.

I'm looking up the next steps we need to take once my SO gets here.

We haven't even filed yet and I still come here every day to look and see what's going on. Plus, it very helpful to keep up on the process, learn alot, and that way when we do file we know exactly what we are doing. And hopefully one day, I will know enough to help others that are new here as well.

It's also a great distraction from work for me too. And it's nice to see other people approved and how long the process took for them.
