Well before I moved down here, I use to only buy non-hydrogenated stuff never bought butter. But now here I can't seem to find a margerine I like. The spreads are horrible cant use them for anything, plus anything that looks that bad when melted can't be good for you. I got some butter for the baking, and now I'm trying the harder sticks of margerine. What i really noticed is that finding some with no trans fat or non-hydrogenated seems next to impossible here. But I'm still looking.

Oh ya has anyone else noticed how expensive potatoes and fruits are here, well at least in Arkansas.

I would of thought they would be cheaper. O.K. thats it for now cause i can keep going on, like say the bugs hahah i'm stoping now.

All butter, all the time! I rarely use it for anything other than baking, so I don't bother buying anything else. :)

i usually buy Country Crock or Kroger Brand.. I am pretty sure they are non-hydrogenated... and they taste pretty good..

ok just checked, I have the Kroger brand right now and it is hydrogenated but it has 0 trans fat...

We have both. I use butter in baking things that just don't taste the same with margarine, and I use margarine with some things that just don't taste the same as butter.

I don't "buy" the butter will kill you messages.

My Dad grew up, and I grew up watching my Dad smear cold solidified bacon grease on bread with pepper....that was kind of like a lard sandwich! My Mom always had this cup of bacon grease on the stove that she would pour drippings into, and then my Dad munched on the remains.

Bye the bye...my Dad is 87 and doesn't take any medications or prescriptions. He and my Mom live on their own. Now, my Dad isn't eating bacon drippings anymore, but they do still eat butter!

I used to cook with Margerine and only use butter in certain instances. About a year ago or more, I relized I probably shouldn't use either and so I changed to cooking with Extra Virgin Olive Oil instead due to the health benefits of it.

We have a tiny bit of butter in the fridge and a small little thing of the Smart Balance Margerine that rarely ever gets used now...

I'm just a wanderer in the desert winds...

My uncle still eats bacon grease sandwiches. They got that from growing up in the war. (England) I remember my Mom giving us fried bread with our bacon and eggs. The bread gets fried in the hot bacon fat so it's basically the same thing. It was pretty good actually.

Goober-grape (peanut butter striped with grape jelly)

(we do use clarified butter--aka ghee--in some dishes/sweets; but that's out of the poll's glister anyway)

Butter all the way...but just a bit.

Margarine is one step away from plastic...our bodies have no idea what to do with it....ew

It was actually created as a mechanical lubricant and something was wrong with the recipe so someone decided "hey, let's make this butter flavoured!"

LOL

Gross
