I don't know how we will keep up with all this! We are already running 24/7. Seriously, if anyone has any factory experience either running or fixing factory production machines now is the time to move!

Cat will build Army bulldozers

Nearly $400 million contract for machines made in East Peoria runs at least 5 years

PEORIA —

Caterpillar Inc. will supply the U.S. Army with bulldozers, according to a $397.1 million contract the company signed with the U.S. Department of Defense.

The bulldozers - D6 and D7 machines - all will be made in East Peoria, said Caterpillar spokesman Jim Dugan.

The bulldozers will include armor kits, said a news release from the U.S. Department of Defense.

Neither the company nor the Army said how many of the bulldozers would be built for that amount.

The Caterpillar bid was one of seven received for the work, the release said.

The Army, according to the release, refers to the machines as light T-5 dozers with Type A armor kits and medium T-9 dozers with Type C armor kits.

The military contract signed Tuesday will run for five years with an option for another five years. The work is to be completed by June 9, 2018.

"For many years, decades actually, Caterpillar has been supplying the U.S. military with Caterpillar products. We are pleased and honored to once again have that opportunity," Dugan said.

"It's obviously a very important piece of business for us," he said.

Indeed, Caterpillar - which has been a supplier to the military since World War I, before it was incorporated as Caterpillar - now has received more than $1 billion worth of military contracts since 2001.

This contract is the largest single contract since an $84.2 million package was reached in 2004 for rebuilt equipment.

While the work will be done in East Peoria, Dugan said it was unknown if that would mean additional jobs at the facilities there. "With this contract spread out over 10 years, it would be difficult to say how that would affect jobs," he said.

Caterpillar stock closed Wednesday at $78.93 a share, down $1.17, in trading on the New York Stock Exchange.

But when we turn to the Hebrew literature, we do not find such jokes about the donkey. Rather the animal is known for its strength and its loyalty to its master (Genesis 49:14; Numbers 22:30).

No Cat engine in 2010, but look for a Cat truck

Caterpillar Inc. won’t be rolling out a 2010 compliant engine. Instead, look for a Cat-branded truck thanks to a new agreement with Navistar International Corp.

Caterpillar and Navistar officials announced Thursday, June 12, that the companies signed an agreement to collaborate in on-highway truck and engine business.

In a press release, Caterpillar officials also announced their company would not supply EPA 2010-compliant engines to truck and other on-highway original equipment manufacturers.

The pair of companies will focus on global truck opportunities and more specifically on severe service construction trucks in North America.

Through the alliance, Cat officials said they plan a 2010 introduction of a North American Cat branded heavy-duty truck for severe service applications, such as road construction, large infrastructure projects and oil and petroleum development.

“This new truck – targeted for 2010 – will incorporate the legendary quality of Caterpillar’s construction and mining machines and provide construction customers a one-stop solution,” said Douglas R. Oberhelman, Caterpillar Group president.

While Caterpillar won’t be coming out with a 2010-compliant engine, Caterpillar and Navistar plan to cooperate on development of mid-range engines, incorporating technology from both companies.

Company officials from Caterpillar and Navistar also plan to expand their existing remanufacturing agreement to include Navistar’s recently introduced MaxxForce on-highway engines.

Caterpillar dealers will also continue to provide product support and service beyond 2010 for all Caterpillar on-highway engines regardless of truck brand.

I've only driven one rig with a Cat in it and I liked it. To bad this isn't going to be a rig.
