Depends on the lie, so many different things, it really depends on the situation. I need more information, is it about another relationship, maybe something about being richer than he really is? It can make a big difference in what I would do. If you don’t mind just give me what kind of lie, maybe than I can give you some examples of what I might do. You hang in there, just give me a little more information and then weigh the options. (F)

It really depends on what it was about. the only time I *caught* Ammar lying was when he admitted lying to me about his whereabouts one day. he had told me he would be late coming home because he was going to visit his cousins. i was pretty sad, but I said OK. Then he came home and told me he was not at his cousins' after giving me a necklace he had made for me and was picking up on the way home. So it's not like probably at all what you're talking about. That was a surprise gift.

None of my posts have ever been helpful. Be forewarned.

Yeah I mean if he said he was buying me a one carrot diamond and he came home with a 3 carrot I think I could find it in my heart to forgive the man for fibbin'.

You're scaring me girl, Duece biggalo male jiggalo  ?!!?

One guy who my dad introduced me to long time ago thought he was all that like every girl wanted him and he was that player type guy. I told him like I'm born in a free country I can do anything I want and I have self respect but you're born here where many things are restricted and you don't have respect for yourself? It went on and on until he broke down and said his gf who he loved and gave everything to cheated on him with 2 guys and said he was ugly , good for nothing, a dog, etc.. His self esteem was just really low. He was an insecure person and to hide that men put up a big front.

I think if your husband lied or kept something from you it's because of insecurity.

My spouse (then bf) did hurt me a long time ago, he lied about his living conditions when he was working back home. He said he was at his own house and he already ate when he was sleeping in his car with my cousin (they worked together) When he DID NOT EAT. He has pride to never ask to borrow money from anybody. It was long time ago when he said he had alot of money but he had none. Like he thought my dad wouldn't let us marry (or i wouldn't marry) if he didn't have money. It seems stupid to get hurt over but that was my future husband if I'm not there to take care of him I have to know if he's alright or not. And he thought I was a shallow woman who looks for a man with money over a heart. It took us a while to understand what happened. He couldn't call me sometimes (I'd think he was with other girls) it was because he didn't have money to call much less eat. My cousin told me about it beforehand don't worry he was with me 100% of the time it's not as you think. I felt really bad about it after so it's important to find out and listen and TALK TALK TALK communication. It still plays a part in our marriage -my spouse is at work all the time with my dad trying to prove he has money :(

Yeah Sara I think that might be what has happened (with my hubby) he just wanted to impress me too much. But I was/am so honest with him so it bites to find this stuff. I just (kiddingly) told him if he does not tell me everything I will divorce him and marry my last boyfriend, he is/bad but at least he is very honest and I know what he is hahaha

The only time my husband has lied to me that I know of is when I made him this pasta with shrimp that he hated and but ate it and said it was really good. The next time I tried to make it he said it was horrible and that he didn't like shrimp. :bonk:

My dad ate lemon ice cream (and hated it) for years because my mom served it when they were newlyweds and he told her he liked it. I'm so grateful that hubby set aside the sentimentality and told me what he really thought of my lemon chicken during his first week here. For us, there were a few getting-to-know-you fibs that came out later, but they weren't serious, just good for a laugh. And I agree that in many cases, those are more likely to come from a desire to impress rather than a desire to deceive. But pulling a Cyrano de Bergerac (I've seen people do that with love letters, for example) may be well intentioned but can smack of scammer and really destroy the recipient's trust. There are websites full of nothing but love letters (and even apology letters) to copy and paste, and some folks forget to change the beloved's name!
