EAD Expiry Question

I have a K3 visa which is valid until Feb 2010 and applied for my AOS and EAD in April. Yesterday, I received my Employment Authorisation Card but... it is only valid for 1 year (until June 09).

Is this correct or should it expire when my K3 expires? I'm puzzled that they have only authorised me to work for 12 months of the 18 months remaining on my K3 Are they that confident that I will have my green card within a year?

EAD is always valid for 1 yr, regardless of what kind of visa you arrived on (K1 vs K3). If you dont get your GC within the yr, you'll have to apply for a new EAD.

EADs are only valid for a year except in certain circumstances when they can be valid for 2 years. You will need to apply for a renewal if you have not received your Green Card by the time it expires or gets close to expiring.

not true. i got my k-3 visa in october of 2006 and got my ead in february of 2007. my ead doesn't expire until october of 2008. (same day my visa expires.) but perhaps things have changed since february 2007...which very well may be the case.
