Anybody know how long it takes to get your SSN & Green card mailed to you? As per the new rules we need not apply for SSN, they get the details from immigration dept..right? if so, can we check status somewere?

They normally come within 3 - 5 weeks. The GC can sometime take longer

If you haven't had your SSN within that time go into the local SS office to check.

It took them 7 weeks to send my husband his green card in the mail and they never got in touch with the SSA to issue him a SS#. After he received his green card, we had to go to the SSA office to get his SS# taken care of. But other people do get everything in the mail within 2-3 weeks.

05/10/07 - NVC receives petition, case # assigned

08/08/07 - Case Complete

09/27/07 - Interview, visa granted

10/02/07 - POE

11/16/07 - Received green card and Welcome to America letter in the mail

Removing Conditions

07/06/09 - I-751 sent to CSC

08/14/09 - Biometrics

09/27/09 - Approved

10/01/09 - Received 10 year green card

U.S. Citizenship

03/30/11 - N-400 sent via Priority Mail w/ delivery confirmation

05/12/11 - Biometrics

07/20/11 - Interview - passed

07/20/11 - Oath ceremony - same day as interview
