gift thread?

Several months back there was a gift thread on here. People posted ideas of what to get their in laws when they go visit. I am in need of it now and did a search to no avail. I thought it was in mena but could be wrong?! Anyone have any luck finding it if you know which one I'm talking about?

In all cases, so far here's what I got:

father: will buy cologne

mother: bought wind chimes off of ebay. Will maybe get perfume in case the wind chimes break (I'm paranoid about things off of ebay and never bought such things off of there before but they aer made of aluminum i think)

sisters: I bought one makeup kit so far but will buy one or two more

kids: This is a "one size fits all" kinad thing cuz there aer maybe 30+ kids there of various ages. I am looking for a game that will help them with learning english. (some of them are learning it in school) Something with pictuers maybe that will help them with vocabulary and/or maybe spelling so they can learn how to read/write/spell words

brothers: I'm picking up a carton of cigerettes for them to share at Jordan airport. Duty free:) (I like that idea in the packing gifts thread)

Need woman's advice here. I'm woman but not woman enough cuz I only know certain things about makeup. ( only wear it for my husband now:) Is it tacky to bring two or three makeup kits from ebay and let the women of the family fight over it? lol Or do arab women share makeup (same mascara shared between two women for example) the way some western women do? My husband is forbidding me to get carried away (as if he can stop me:) but I wanna do something and not leave anyone out. There's 3 sisters in total, countless nieces, and of course maybe 7 brother in law's wives (I think)

Also is it tacky to single out a person? Like if I get one niece something regarding a favorite music artist she likes even though I did not get a special gift for any of the others? What about getting a special gift for the newest baby in the fammily? But I don't want the other women to think I don't like their babies too. There's just too many babies, I only know of 4 but there are too many, lol

Perhaps if you found a game you could play it w/ them while you're there, teaching each other reading, writing, & spelling in English.

As for the sharing of makeup - well, that's just highly unsanitary and is begging for someone to get an infection!!! Don't encourage that behavior if it is in practice. Perhaps you could splurge and buy them *each* a mascara or something.

Well, I decide to buy them jenga based off of an idea in the gifts thread. I did not want a game with too much explanation because the entire house is chaotic and it's hard to explain things. I would have to explain things through someone translating and my husband is always dragged away by the men and there is only one sister in law i think who speaks a little bit of english. So I don't know if explanaing things will get across well. But with jenga...you build, you knock down, and and hopefully mommy does not have to clean it up:) (I dont know what arab mothers do to their kid's toys if they see them on the floor...ours would throw them away, lol)

And for sharing makeup...yeah I agree. I don't do it myself but I have seen others do it. Well, I will wait to see what all comes in the makeup kit and go from there. I should be getting it next week from ebay. And perhaps I can just mix and match things. What's going to end up happening anyways is my MIL is going to take the gifts to the family's house....I wont get to distribute them anyways so it does not matter "too much" as to who gets who. thats why I said just get some stuff and lt them fight over it:)
