Ok let me be the first to actually say what I voted lol. Both of us are ok with gays, to each their own.

K-1 journey, AOS/EAD and ROC in my timeline

2011 March 31 - Sent off Naturalization pkg overnight to Texas

2011 April 1 - Arrived in Texas at 10:21 am

2011 April 1 - NOA (rec'd via snail mail April 8)

2011 April 7 - Cheque cashed

2011 May 5 - Biometrics (letter rec'd via snail mail April 15)

2011 May 9 - Placed in line for interview scheduling

2011 June 13 - Rec'd yellow letter (no change in status online)

2011 June 23 - Rec'd text that my case has been scheduled for interview

2011 August 1 - Interview (rec'd via snail mail June 27) PASSED

2011 August 3 - Rec'd email that my case has been scheduled for Oath

2011 September 1 - Oath ceremony (rec'd snail mail Aug 5)

2011 September 1 - All done, yeah.

We support gay rights. Our very good friends got "married" two months ago and we helped out at the wedding - we have no problems with this.

11/2004 - Met in Brazil

09/2006 - Apply for K1

03/2007 - K1 approved

04/2007 - Apply for AOS & EAD

07/2007 - EAD approved

01/2008 - Conditional Residency approved

11/2009 - Apply to remove conditions

02/2010 - Permanent Residency approved

11/2010 - Apply for Citizenship

03/2011 - Citizenship approved

07/2011 - Moved back to Brazil

Officially Engaged December 24th, 2007!!!

Moved to the U.S. to be with my baby on July 19th, 2008 on a K1 visa!!!!

Yes to all.

Equal protection under the law is what the Constitution requires. Whether you believe in it religiously or otherwise, that is what U.S. citizen are due. Everyone gets to choose a partner to share their life, finances, inheritance rights, medical oversight in emergencies, etc. I see no legal justification for denying a homosexual their rights.

And on a personal note, I have had a couple gay male friends in my life. They definitely did not "choose" homosexuality; it is just who they are. And that is okay with me.

We both do not support. However I am a manager and work with all people of all nations, religions and sexual preferences... that doesnt stop me from taking care of them all the same. Some people in life I agree with and support in their personal choices and some people I do not... regardless of what the issue is.

And my hubby & I share the same reasons.

So you think homosexuality is a choice, and therefore cannot support it? :blink:

My sister is gay and I can assure you that she didn't choose to be so. It has made her life so much harder. I don't think most people would choose homosexuality because so many people (like you) are so intolerant and unsupportive. However, given that homosexuality is genetic, I can't understand why gays shouldn't be given the same benefits that are afforded to heterosexuals.

Assuming that you are directing that comment to me... I dont have to support what everyone in the world does. It was a poll which gave options and I stated my opinion. i dont have to accept the lifestyle they choose is OK... bcz I dont and I wont. You have your opinions which is different from mine which I didnt call you out on...

And yes to answer the question... I do think homosexuality is a choice. My reason for not supporting has nothing to do with if its a choice or not.

and also.... ive never been rude to or treated a gay person different than anyone else. I am a manager of a few that I know are gay and I have been an associate of a few managers that are gay. Some have asked me my opinion on the sub and I gave my honest answer. They will still come up to me and hug me and I do the same when we meet again. They are people and I love people. I just dont agree with all peoples choices. Doesnt make me intolerant and unloving...

No, it just makes you unsupportive. Whether hetero or **, we are all humans and should be entitled to the same rights and protections that this country offers.

And just to reiterate, homosexuality is NOT a choice. It is just how some people are born.
