Please can somebody tell me what to do to get a CA driver's permit. Do I have to take a driver education class, or do I have to make appointment at the DMV office without taking any drivers education class. Please somone enlighten me on what to do. Though I know what to bring to the DMV appointment, but do I need a driver education certificate to make appointment.

Oh before I forget, I am an adult over 25 years, so does it means I dont need to take a driver education class. Thank you

I find that the websites for the appropriate agencies typically will have all the answers

http://www.dmv.ca.gov/dl/dl.htm

YMMV

Thanks for the reply, but I have checked the website and it doesnt say anything like driver education class for over 18 years of age, except for under 18 years of age. But do I need to take a class?

If it is stated requirement for under 18 and it is not a stated requirement for over 18, then you have your answer....

YMMV

You don't have to if you're over 18. You'll take a written test to get a permit, and then take a driving test to get the actual license. They have it in lots of languages, but the translations can be weird. It took my husband a few times to pass the written and twice for the driving b/c he had trouble understanding the instructor. He hadn't been here that long when he applied.

Summer 2001--we met in Manzanillo, Mexico

10/02--129F submitted (We had 1 RFE)

7/03--Interview in Ciudad Juarez

2/15/04--Married

4/2/04--AOS submitted

8/23/04--Interview in Chula Vista, CA (approved pending name check)

5 EADs, 3 APs, multiple Senators' inquiries and infopass appts, 2 AOS biometrics,

and one move to Seattle later...

3/3/08--AOS Biometrics renewal in Seattle

6/9/08--10 year green card arrived in the mail. My husband is no longer in immigration limbo and is a realio, trulio permanent resident! It says he's been a resident since 04/17/2008.
