Someone told me that I needed to send my fiance's birth certificate (copy) with my K1 petition. Is this true?

K1 Visa Process long ago and far away...

02/09/06 - NOA1 date

12/17/06 - Married!

AOS Process a fading memory...

01/31/07 - Mailed AOS/EAD package for Olga and Anya

06/01/07 - Green card arrived in mail

Removing Conditions

03/02/09 - Mailed I-751 package (CSC)

03/06/09 - Check cashed

03/10/09 - Recieved Olga's NOA1

03/28/09 - Olga did biometrics

05/11/09 - Anya recieved NOA1 (took a call to USCIS to take care of it, oddly, they were helpful)

to piggyback lorelle's comment ....

your BC is only needed to as proof of US citizenship ... you can also provide a full copy of your passport (every page needed - even the blank pages)

your fiance(e)'s BC will be needed when they attend their interview at the embassy.

Sorry, just hopping on to this thread... my fiancee (british) has her interview on the 10th of February and I am not exactly on top of things, but it does seem to me that I need to furnish proof of my US citizenship for her interview? And that being the case, is a photocopy suitable or is an original needed?

Posted

you should have already supplied your fiancee with your I-134 and supporting documentation and the extra copy of your original I-129F petition package. as i did not supply my BC in my I-129F petition, i did not send an original to london with my fiance for his interview.

your fiancee is to have all originals on hand for her interview ... with that being said, i highly doubt that the london embassy will ask for them ... they are very lax!

best of luck!!

When first applying the petitioner needs to include his/her birth certificate. I never included mine and have had no requests for it so far. I can imagine though if the BC is adopted, had name change or moved around alot they may need it early on.

Good luck!

Love hurts

When you live an ocean away

When you change your sleep schedule to catch a few more moments

When you really need to be held and you have to imagine whilst your partner describes it

When you constantly refresh the USCIS website to see if you're getting any closer

Love Loves

When it repays you with the love of your life

When God finally answered your biggest prayer

When you can live life again in the real world but still have that eternal connection

When you wake up for to the beginning of the rest of your life with the person you fought so hard for

When you love somebody that much

You'll do anything
