The USCIS checklist gives you three options.. you can freely choose one of the three. We chose to send the transcripts since they were easy to get.

One should remember that there is really no burden of proof at this stage... They just want something basic to show you're still in marital union, transcripts showing joint filing show this. After calling the IRS toll free number, we got the transcrpipts within a week.

Yes but that is for US Spouse proving that can support immigrant. In this case they are looking to see joint filing of taxes, a requirement of citizenship, if being applied for within 3 years.

Thanks zyggy. I was looking at the application and I came across a question that I think might deter us from applying.....

I started another topic, but anyway, the question asked if you owe any federal/state/local tax that's overdue... and we do. We didn't pay for the property tax for one of our investment homes because it was going into foreclosure anyway. What do you think? Should we bother applying at this point? What do you think our options are? Pay for the property tax, then apply for citizenship? ****SIIIGHHHHHH**
