just to clear things.. im not sending her msgs using send SMS in yahoo..

i had her phone registered to yahoo mobile so in my YM, she appears "im on mobile"..

then i msg her using YM..

That is what I was saying also...when you log out of YM, log out to 'I'm Mobile' and have the other person log onto YM through their phone...this should be UNLIMITED txting for 24 hrs. with the Globe sim set up for the UNLIMITED txting.

just wanna know what u think or ur experience with this..

im thinkin.. il use globe since im using globe here in the philippines..

like just to maintain my globe number..

but then some says smart is better..

tell me what u think pls..

thanks..

Well I have never used Globe. But I do have Smart. I have it on roaming here in the US for almost 2 years. It works very good and have never had any trouble. My Fiance lives in the Philippines and I add load to her phone and to mine online. They are excellent and usually loads in under 5 minutes. The link is http://stores.shop.ebay.com/Auto-Reloaded__W0QQ_armrsZ1

Also I have at&t go phone I pay 20 usd a month and I can text her unlimited on it and she text my Smart phone. Another good link is www.callingmart.com

SMART has a new balikbayan sim.. cost around Php120 i think.

It doesn't have any maintianing balance for roaming services and your family can send you eloads.

i'm planning on brining one over but with the YM SMS service... (FREE UNLIMITED for US residents), I'm rethinking this plan.

Anyhoo, SUN also has an international sim that can send text to US phones for Php1/text.

So if your family has computer, just use this so they can send you text msg and you log in to YM or Skype.

Using your Yahoo Messenger, you can send absolutely free and unlimited text messages to US phone numbers.

Meanwhile, your SO in US can send text messages to Yahoo Messenger on their standard text messaging rate.

That means, if your SO has unlimited text messaging with AT&T, he can reply to u unlimited through Yahoo Messenger.

To you, it will appear as a chat window, to him it will arrive in a text messaging format.

What we also did for calls was to get me (Filipina wife) a Yahoo Messenger phone in.... it's only US28/Year.

YM will assign a US Phone number for your YM ID and your SO can call you through his regular phone with standard phone call rates in the US.

Meaning, he can use up all his talk time with you. This is so long as you are logged in to YM. Very helpful to people who have computers and DSL at home... and their husband/fiance is out working or travelling. This is also good if you hook up your parents to this service once you arrive to the US. You can call through your landline or mobile phone to their YM Phone In number and not have to actually have internet at home. You can ask them to log in while ur out shopping... so you can call them and chat while doing grocery.

There's also a YM Phone out, it works the same as phone in... only this time you pay for outgoing calls. You can load minimum of US10 and it's only USD0.01/min call to the US (for US10 approx 3 hours talk time). You can hook your parents to this so they can call you at your US mobile number really cheap.

Again, this is very convinient for people with computers and DSL at home.

I am using a yahoo phone out right now. Before I subscribe to phone in but after our kid was born I dont have time to be always in front of the PC so i switch to phone out and call him whenever I get the chance. he is using sprintpcs network to text me via ym and aim (preferred) however he is paying too much since it includes voice calls and I havent really checked sprint services for just instant messenger. I will be leaving on July 8 and will disconnect my broadband since both of my parents who are seniors dont know how to operate computers, no siblings and the folks are planning to visit the province to take care of something so I want to communicate via yahoo messenger.

Ever since i am using GLOBE. The day before i left PI i bought a new globe sim, but i bought the OFW Sim pack. I am now using the OFW sim, it does have zero maintaining balance. So i can still receive text messages from my family and it will just cost them Php1.00. They just send me electronic load that is worth Php100.00 but i found the $10.00 Kababayan phone card that have 90minutes worth of calls and have 10 minutes free. Can be bought at any MoneyGram outlets. So they do not send me electronic load instead i just buy 2 or 3 Globe kababayan Phone cards to use every week. I use 2 phones, a Globe phone for PI calls/text and a Boost Mobile (nationwide unlimited everything- calls, text and web.. it also have walkie-talkie) and i only pay $50.00 a month. That includes tax. I tried Metro PCS for a few days but it has limited coverage area. So i go for Boost Mobile and i do not have problem with network connection Edited by SJ1819

when i was still in the philippines i sent my hubby a globe sim pack and i had it activated for roaming so i can text him for 1.00 peso only and i also enrolled it to zero maintaining balance so i dont need to keep on loading it for 100 pesos to maintain the connection.

when i left pi, i didnt activate my own globe number. i am using my hubby's globe number so my family can text me for only 1.00 peso... and i never bought any load for it coz its already zero maintaining balance so it means even if the roaming number has no load there is still a signal...the last time i bought load for my hubby's globe number was november last year when he went to pi...smart ah! hehehehhehehe.

Thanks for the respond.

I have smart and globe sim card here.

I wasn't able to activate my smart sim card for roaming though I tried but it was too late since I did it a few minutes before we left Philippines. Is there anything else I can do with that? It has PHP800 load.. :crying:

Now my parents sent me globe sim card and the globe people said that it is already activated, but they're wrong coz I found in their handbook that it needs to be activated manually before the sim card leaves Phils which didn't happen.

Now, my qstion is how do I use either my smart and globe sim card here in TX?

just tell your family in the pi to talk to a globe operator and have them activate the globe sim card...the operator can activate it for you...make sure you have 100 pesos load in your globe sim card...and enrol it to zero maintaining balance...so you dont need to keep buying load for it as long as your partner from the pi keeps on loading their number every month.

thats it...sometimes there are stupid operators who dont know what they are talking about or give you wrong information...so be smart enough to talk to another operators...thats it.

I'm currently using Smart for the last 3 years and so far I didn't have any problem. My sister send it to me here 3 years ago via FedEx and have it activated myself over here. Well, all I did when I got the sim card in the mail, I put the sim on my unlocked cellphone and manually search for the network available in my area and after that I have a signal which is T-Mobile. I don't use my roaming to send a text messages because it gets really expensive so I only use it to received a text messages while I use my Skype and At&t international text plan to send text to the Philippines.

I only load 30 pesos every 50 days on my roaming sim just to keep it activated. When I went to the Philippines recently I wasn't able to used my roaming for calling but I can send and received text messages though.

I haven't tried Globe for roaming.Only noticed it would consume your load (even while in Philippines) even if you are not using it. Used Smart Roaming and it worked even without relaoding for over a month hahah! Brought it with me to UK,Spain, KSA,Morocco and Germany. Worked well anywhere I went. I don't know about Globe...

I think It will work every well too in USA.
