GLOBE or SMART for ROAMING?

hi everyone..im glad i found this forum..

i hope anyone can help me with my problem with the roaming...

before i got here in Texas, i used smart which i tried to activate before leaving the Philippines, but I guess i did it late and it wasn't activated at all though it sent me a message and it is processed for activation, that's all, i never received a message saying that it is activated.

coz of that my parents sent me globe sim that roaming was already activated (as what the globe people in the philippines said), but i dont have any signal or anything. i dont know how to use it here then.

can anyone help me with this?

i think wala talaga signal ang globe or if meron dito sa US mahirap magkaron ng signal..

im using smart roaming to receive msgs back at home..

so far wala nman ako reklamo..

i believe most of the filipinos here in the US use smart for roaming than globe..

Better register to www.chikka.com (free registration) then download it to your computer, you can send free text messages to your family back in the Philippines. Your family can text you back that will only cost them P2.50 per send.

That's true, it will only cost them 1 peso if you're using Smart, but how much will cost you to text them back? And beside there's a due date of your Smart load, isn't it? When I arrived here, I used a roaming simcard, too but then I realize that everytime I text them back it cost me P15peso, until one of my friend told me about chikka, since then i dropped my roaming simcard. It won't really hurt them sending me text messages coz' I was the one who is buying their load...lol...also through chikka.

true.. but i dnt use smart to text them back.. i use my verizon phone..

or yahoo.. most of the time my mom calls me through pldt budget card..

100 pesos = 30 minutes.. so like 3 pesos / minute..

i got a question...

there is a text prompt that they need to reply to you for them to continue receiving msgs from them, right?

so like is that a one time txt prompt or like they get that every 3 msgs u send them like in yahoo if im not mistaken..

im using Globe before and it works pretty to me. anywhere i go i got signal they can even call me anytime and send me text. and dont got problem about it, expect if i dont have load. hahahaha

I tried to post same answer before, but it didn't go through..i'll try again.

This is what Kris and I do:

She has Globe unlimited txting for 24hrs. This allows her to log into Yahoo Messenger. She simply txt my Yahoo id and I receive it on my phone.

I use AT&T with txting and when I log out of my Yahoo acct. I have Yahoo send my messages to mobile.. so, when she txt my id, it goes to my phone. We txt all the time this way and it works great. If I send her messages and she has no connection, she receives the messages as offline messages when she logs on. Same for me. If i forget to have Yahoo send messages to my phone, I will get them as offline when I log back on.

The unlimited txting with Globe is 20 php per 24 hrs. I pay nothing extra except what I am charged for normal txting.

I have smart and globe sim card here.

I wasn't able to activate my smart sim card for roaming though I tried but it was too late since I did it a few minutes before we left Philippines. Is there anything else I can do with that? It has PHP800 load..

Now my parents sent me globe sim card and the globe people said that it is already activated, but they're wrong coz I found in their handbook that it needs to be activated manually before the sim card leaves Phils which didn't happen.

Now, my qstion is how do I use either my smart and globe sim card here in TX?

i'm a geek so i carry two phones.. i have had my SMART number on roaming for almost 5 yrs now. use TMOBILE to reply then SMART to receive... then because i was spending all my money with texting, decided to give YM another try. so i registered my husband's cell with YM then i just text him through there. he replies to my SMART number. it used to work last year then it stopped working. but now it seems to be working just fine and i'm saving soo much money! i have the really old $2.99 for 500 txt messages from tmobile.. that doesn't exist anymore.

SMART roaming is really easy. when i'm in the phils, i just text ROAM ON, send to 333 and i'm all set. but first, i make sure to load it with at least 100 pesos.. before i leave, i make sure i have at least 100 pesos, then i text ROAM OFF, send to 333.. then that's all the loading i ever do. if for some reason i don't receive any txt messages for a day, probably means that it needs to be reloaded. just have them eload you 30 pesos and you'll be fine..

you can eload yourself. just go to ebay and search for smart eload..

i do that for my mom's phone.. i registered here phone in yahoo so i can msg her using YM..

but the thing is it keeps sayin that for her to receive my msgs she has to reply to one of my yahoo msg which costs P2.50..

and so she replied.. i think like every 5 msgs she receive from me.. she gets that msg..

is that normal?

i had her phone registered to yahoo mobile so in my YM, she appears "im on mobile"..

then i msg her using YM..
