Help with AP

Hello,

I know it is a bit early, but I really need to know what to do...

I will arrive under K1 visa in the US at the end of august. We should get married quickly after and so, by mid-september we should send everything for AOS/EAD/AP.

We are planning on going to France for Xmas vacation, leaving mid-december, exactly 3 months after we will apply for AP. However, there is a risk that I will not have my AP on time before we leave.

So, here is my questions:

1/ Do you need to show the AP doc when you leave the US to travel abroad?

2/ Or do I only need the AP doc when I want to come back to the US?? In that case, is it possible to tell USCIS to send the AP to my address in France, so that I will be sure that have it with me on my way back to the US???

Do not leave the country without AP approved.

From the instructions:

If you travel before the advance parole document is issued, your application will be deemed abandoned if:

A. You depart from the United States;

1) YES you need ap document in hand before leaving the USA, doing so without is considered to be abandoning the AOS process.

2) NO they wont send an advance parole document to you in a foreign country. "ADVANCE" implies that you have it in advance as in BEFORE leaving the country.

If you don't have it before you leave, schedule an info pass appointment to your field office and perhaps they will issue you AP.

There is a place on the I-131 application form where it asks for expected date of travel. Make sure you fill that in and highlight it. Good luck.
