I don't know, but I do think that all single mothers should have to have it done so some poor shmuck isn't paying if it isn't his kid, and made to pay if it is his. As the saying goes you want to play you have to pay.

Not sure I agree with that! I am a single mother.. that doesnt mean I was a ####### and don't know who the father of my child is. I was in a relationship and decided not to get married. Then it just didnt work out.

I am also sure there are some married mother's that have had babies from a relationship outside the marriage.

maybe it would be a good thing to protect all, those that are and those that arent. I could see where someone getting a visa could be asked to make sure the petitioner is the true father

Well, I donnow if this would pass. But I am definately all for this idea! It sure would clear up so cases of the 'unknown' father. And not to mention, the newest trend of the mother lying about the father. But serious doubt this would ever really pass ... Human rights would be all over this one! Some I am sure the government is too afraid to touch!

Sure shame, that millions of Tv viewers tune into these daytime talkshows, to yet another trashy show about cheaters, liars, and of course the "who is the father" bit.

Surely, while the mother is still in the hospital ... having this little blood sample drawn then analyzed would save that child years of heartache and mental disfunction. Not to mention, free up some of the courts where these cases are battled out! I personally, am all for the child's rights. If happens that there is even a question of paternity (except for rape cases) both parties lost all sympathy from me by being irresponsible.

But still in my opinion, this types of tests should be take away the responsiblity of the people having the sex. Women should be more careful who they are sleeping with, considering pregnancy and SIDs. Overall, the best and yet east obtainable soution would be adults taking responsibility for their acts.

I agree, i was a single mom, and tho i didnt marry Shonna's father, i knew it was her father, i dunno maybe it was the fact i didnt sleep around for 2 yrs other than with him. Paternity tests are voluntary and should remain so. The test surely is not going to make anyone pay child support.

I feel that if there has been infidelity in a relationship or marriage it should be done to protect the child right.

The mother and father has that right to request it but mostly it is the child right to know where he or she belongs.

They know do the swab so there is no pain involved for either party especially the child.

I think all sexual encounters must be pre-approved and observed by a government representative who will keep records of the event.
