Salutations VJ'ers,

I apologize for posting this here, dont really know where it should go  .

So here goes  .

My BIL (a ghanaian; in ghana) has landed a job in an UAE/UEA country;

(Abu/Abi something???) .

(If he gets the plane fare together) he leaves in 21 days for the aforementioned country ;) .

He has been issued/sponsored a 3 year work/residency visa (through the employer) .

After the first year of employment, he is granted 30 days LOA/Vacation time.

He wants to visit the U.S. during his time off  .

What are the steps he needs to take to get a visa to come here?? :help:

Please consider: Since he will be in that country temporarily for approx. 3 years, does he apply there or back in ghana???

Now according to the visa website (see blurb below):

Applying for a Visitor Visa?

Applicants for visitor visas should generally apply at the American Embassy or Consulate with jurisdiction over their place of permanent residence.

{but then it says....} :(

Although visa applicants may apply at any U.S. consular office abroad, it may be more difficult to qualify for the visa outside the country of permanent residence.

I really dont know what to tell him, so any and all constructive advice is appreciated.

I thank you all in advance and God Bless.

If he has residency in the UAE then he can apply at the US embassy there for a tourist visa.

Hello guys, thanx for the input.

I have an update.

HE DOES NOT HAVE RESIDENCY!!!

None of the ghanaians that got recruited (with him) have residency; only WORKING permits!!!

p.s. he does lurk on here from time to time  , so I'm hoping he will stop being so shy and open his own account and ask his own questions :star: .

That way I can go back to "drive by posting  !!"
