Hi all-

It's our first time posting here, but we've been helped tremendously by what other people have already posted, so thank you all.

We have two questions:

The first is that my fiance quit his job in November in order to be able to travel to the US to spend time with me. He never overstayed, but he was here quite a bit. So now, he's having a coronary about the upcoming interview, given that he needs to show proof that he has savings (he spent it getting back and forth) or a job, and he has neither. I do make enough to support us, and am fully willing to do so. I also could probably get my boss (I am a charter school teacher) to sign a letter saying that we could employ him doing technical work (he is in IT). What should he say? What would be helpful in this situation?

Second, I have serious, long-standing health issues. Amoung other things, I have SLE (lupus, a serious auto-immune disease that causes pain, swelling, rashes, amoung other horrible and disabling symptoms, along with the side-effects from medications taken to control it) and chronic pain syndrome. I am being treated by several doctors, whom I have been seeing for years. I could probably get a letter from them saying that this situation has made my health extremely precarious due to the added stress. I actually started to have insomnia, chest pain, and difficulty breathing for the entire week leading up to my fiance leaving for the UK to wait out our interview/etc. Is this something that would be helpful in speeding up the process?

If it helps, my fiance is from the UK, and we originally filed at the beginning of January of this year. We got our NOA2 on 30 May, and are waiting for the letter from the national processing centre.

I really appreciate any help anyone has to offer. This forum has been a godsend for us.

Cheers all-

Cheryl (and Peter by proxy)

Don't know about the second question.

For the first one regarding your Fiances finances. At the interview, they aren't interested in the Beneficiary's finances, just the Petitioner's. You as the USC need to prove that you can fully support him and your existing family. You have to show that you are 125% above the poverty line for your household. You need to do this with a letter from your employer, a letter from your bank etc. as outlined in the affidavit of support.

Hope that helps! You're nearly there!

Peter not having a job, or depleting his savings will not be an issue at the interview at all. As the previous posted stated, it's your finances, outlined in the Affadavit of Support that's needed, and that needs to be 125% above the poverty line.

I'm sorry about your health situation. While I'm sure your health is precarious, I'd not think it would increase your chance of any expedite. My understanding of expediting for health reasons is really life and death issues.

I'm hoping hearing the good news about your fiances finances will help alleviate some of the stress now and things will quieten down for you!

The sponsor's finances are the only finances the consulate is concerned with. (For the record at consulate stage the level to hit is 100% of the poverty level not 125% - and no I'm not going to explain it again but if readers question this, do the research and you will find the proof).

The visa applicant is the only persons health that will matter.

Only serious health issues can speed up a petition or an interview.
