Typical British, TAX and CONTROL their subjects. I feel for those poor people living in England, why they do not revolt and kick out their moron leaders is beyond me, and they worry about USA leaders and then this, wow how will people in England live. I think soon they will tax them for breathing in England!

Wonder if they will one of those stupid ####### trucks driving around that is scanning neighborhood airwaves for TV sets in homes that are not registered and paying their tax or homage to the BBC like they will when you breath and use up carbon credits! Or better yet when they make you pay a tax to drive in and out of the city at certain times of day or if you only have one person in the car and all kinds or incredulous nonsense.

Every adult should be forced to use a 'carbon ration card' when they pay for petrol, airline tickets or household energy, MPs say.

The influential Environmental Audit Committee says a personal carbon trading scheme is the best and fairest way of cutting Britain's CO2 emissions without penalising the poor.

Under the scheme, everyone would be given an annual carbon allowance to use when buying oil, gas, electricity and flights.

Anyone who exceeds their entitlement would have to buy top-up credits from individuals who haven't used up their allowance. The amount paid would be driven by market forces and the deal done through a specialist company.

it doesn't get sillier than David Cameron's lot it must be said. Why they can't pull together a credible opposition more than 10 years after the '97 Labour Victory is beyond me.

They always have the weirdest people in charge of the party - Ken Clarke would have been a good choice for them, but as usual they keep trying to find their own version of Tony Blair.

Well the licence fee is a bit of gyp, but the whole detector van thing is a bit of a myth. They certainly "don't drive around" scanning for unregistered TVs - that's against a whole slew of privacy laws.

Actually the whole myth of decector vans lurking around the streets at night WAS very Orwellian and very much perpetuated by the BBC, I remember that ad as kid, that showed the van under the street light and the person peeping out of the curtain

I have lived here for most of my life and never once saw a detector van.....I have however been given a caution, on my doorstep, for not having a valid TV license to show at the time.
