Is it okay to wait to file for AOS for couple of months and just go ahead and file for EAD now so my spouse can start working ASAP

How long does it usually take for AOS to be approved ?

Our 1 year wedding anniversary is on August 8. Would You suggest we wait until maybe end of the year to file AOS??

Any answers would be appreciated :)

Thank You all

SAVZ,

We're just getting ready to start the AOS process, too. Some of our questions are like yours.

You might analyze the Immigration Timelines that you can find further up on your screen.

I think the wait times depend on the local office (unless you get transferred to one of the major service centers -- and if that happens, as I understand it, your AOS will be approved or denied without ever having an interview).

I analyzed data for our service center last night, looking at 21 cases where data were posted in Immigration Timelines. I went back a little over a year.

The mean waiting time between filing and the interview, in Denver, was 132 +- 56 (2σ) days. The median and mode waiting time was 140 days. So, we'll have a ballpark 5 months, range 3-7 months, to wait to complete this process.
