Police Report lost? Was sent for in MARCH!!

My Pete filed for his new police report after he left the US at the end of February. So far it has not appeared. He's talked to someone in (New Scotland Yard?) and he's talked to his local constable. He's talked to a supervisor at the police station. They all promise to look for it or to get it for him.

The local constable did look on the computer and has confirmed that the check was cashed and that the police report has not been received at the police station?

Are we doing something wrong? Have we missed something? Is it supposed to go to the police station and then THEY send it to the person who applied for it?

What more can Pete do? Thank you for any help -- this is the only thing holding him up.

don't know about the new ones, but the old ones arrived in the mail to your designated address... aren't the new ones supposed to take less time? I'd hazard a guess it's lost :(

The Very Secret Diary of Legolas Son of Weenus - by Cassandra Claire

Day One: Went to Council of Elrond. Was prettiest person there. Agreed to follow some tiny little man to Mordor to throw ring into volcano. Very important mission - gold ring so tacky.

Day Six: Far too dark in Mines of Moria to brush hair properly. Am very afraid I am developing a tangle.

Orcs so silly.

Still the prettiest.

Day 35: Boromir dead. Very messy death, most unnecessary. Did get kissed by Aragorn as he expired. Does a guy have to get shot full of arrows around here to get any action? Boromir definitely not prettier than me. Cannot understand it. Am feeling a pout coming on.

Frodo off to Mordor with Sam. Tiny little men caring about each other, rather cute really.

Am quite sure Gimli fancies me. So unfair. He is waist height, so can see advantages there, but chunky braids and big helmet most off-putting. Foresee dark times ahead, very dark times.

I applied for my police report a few weeks ago and it came 8 days later. Your fiancé needs to be dealing with the people at ACPO and not his local station they have nothing to do with the process any longer. If he originally applied through the police station its quite likely the reports you ordered will no longer be accepted at the embassey. The process changed at the beginning of the year and you need to make sure you have the ACPO report to pass the interview.

I would say call the ACPO helpdesk, the woman is lovely. She will be able to check whether the report has ever been carried out or not and she will also know if you SO will need to send new photos or whether or not the original one on file can be put onto your replacements.

The reports come direct to your house so you might want to ask Pete to call your local sorting office and see if they are holding anything for him. Mine came direct through the door but maybe they chose not to deliver them to him for one reason or another. The return address on the back of the envelope was ACPO so perhaps the woman at the help desk can tell you if they have been returned also.

Good luck

This is confusing - my fiance is in Scotland and is applying for a Criminal History System and Police National Computer checks through the Lothian & Borders Police. The email they sent him today states that:

"Letters from either Lothian and Borders Police (about information held on the Scottish Criminal History System) or the National Identification Service (which deals with applications for information from the Police National Computer) will be accepted by visa and immigration authorities. You will either receive a letter stating that there is no known information in your name, or a copy of any information that is held about you."

It seems that the ACPO specifically states for England, Northern Ireland, and Wales - but Scotland is omitted. Any idea where he should get his report from?

Thanks!

Thank you, I'm glad I asked on here. WHY on earth is his police station saying THEY will look for it!!!!! (rhetorical question.)

I just talked to him and told him what was said on here. This is what happened--he went in early March to his local police station and they gave him the form. He said it was different from the one he had filled out before so it looks like he had the right form.

At the police station they told him to fill it out and bring it back to them. So he filled it out, made out at check to THEM, and they took it and said they would send it to London.

So now he has the cancelled check cashed by the police and nothing from London.

I told him to call the help desk and he will do that tomorrow.

WHAT A MESS! Looks like he might have to start all over again and the police have his money!

Also, while I'm here, he has moved in with his grown daughter recently. Does he absolutely need to change his address with the Embassy or is it alright for him to just have his mail forwarded or held? He thinks it would hold things up if he had to change his address with them.

Are you guys waiting for this to send back your packet 3? I notice from your signature that you haven't returned it yet. I just wanted to say that you should tick the police cert box anyway, and sent Packet 3 back, and worry about the Police cert while the embassy is moving along with your case. The ACPO cert only takes a few days to get back (even at the £35 price), so you'll have no difficulty having it by interview time. :star:

The new police cert is obtained through the link that Pushbrk provided (the ACPO one) the local police service probably don't stay up to date on the procedures that the US embassy is putting in place. So I wouldn't pay any attention to what form they gave him.

Newenglander I just saw your timeline too. If you guys haven't yet sent back P3 you should do that now, my certificates came 8 days after I put the ACPO application in the post first class. . . two days after I sent back P3. Even if something did go drastically wrong Phil can still interview without the certificates and the K1 will be issued pending submission of them anyway - not that it will come to that. Sorry that the local station seems to have everything so wrapped around their necks at least you know what you have to do now.

I would suggest if he hasn't returned P3 yet then he should just include a cover letter informing the embassy of his new whereabouts and asking them to update his record. From what I have seen changing addresses and other minor details won't delay your progress in any way. I don't trust the post office here in the UK and see a delay more likely occurring because the PO lost Packet 4 than anything to do with London. Phil needs the interview letter to get into the embassy and some people have received their letter with only 3-4 days notice to their interview - if he has to wait for it to be re-routed that could get quite messy. Just my 2 cents.

Hi,

Its the same one - i found this -

Scotland - Police certificates from the Association of Chief Police Officers of England, Wales and Northern Ireland (ACPO) also cover Scotland. All citizens and residents of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland (including those resident in Scotland) should apply through ACPO.

Thank you, everyone. We have become very impatient about this. Pete has emailed me that he has downloaded the CORRECT police report form and will be sending it in. He's upset with his local police for not knowing and leading him to believe that it would be arriving. They will be refunding his money.

ANOTHER brick wall: he can't send in the packet because our US lawyer did it all on her computer and sent it to him. He only has limited use of a computer in a library so the lawyer thought it best to do it and send it to him. HE STILL HAS NOT RECEIVED IT! Now I think we should have sent it DHL :( but we sent it international first class. It was supposed to take about one week but it's been several weeks now. (I wonder if the lawyer has a tracking number and can look it up --just thought of that.)
